I apologize in advance if this is against forum rules, or if this is in the wrong section, I made an account just to post this.

As the title mentions, if you recently lost a knife made by Half Face Blades in your NorCal apartment complex, please DM me the exact model of the knife and name of your apartment complex. If it matches, I'd like to return it to you in person!

I can be reached via email at insolentgoose@gmail.com, if anyone wants to reach me directly.

Context: While looking for my lost car keys, I found a knife underneath a bush in my apartment complex. I don't know jack squat about knives, but it had "HFB" engraved on it, so I was able to identify it and figure out how valuable the thing was. I'm sure the original owner must be heartbroken, and I was pointed to this forum, so here I am.

I've tried the following so far:
- Posted on reddit (r/knives and /r/knifeclub)
- Posted in Nextdoor
- Asked apartment office if anyone has reported lost items (none in past week)
- Knocked on several doors near the area I found the blade (only one answered)
- Posted here (Bladeforums)

EDIT (12/20/21): I tried a couple more things:
- Knocked on more doors. This time I left sticky notes with contact info for people who didn't answer their doors.
- Contacted HFB through Instagram with photos of the blade as well as my address. They responded, and said they'll check tomorrow!

EDIT (12/28/21): Unfortunately, I still have not heard back from the original owner through any of the above avenues.
Owner -- if you happen to stumble upon this thread in the future, my offer still stands. I'll hold onto the knife indefinitely.

That's very decent of you to go through so much trouble. I hope you find the owner, and I hope they appreciate your effort. :)

And this was probably the very best place you could have posted.

Great looking out... Nothing like putting some extra deposits in the karma bank!!!! Hope this works out!!!!
You are a true gentleman and a scholar... Thank you for the effort and consideration you have extended....
Happy and safe holidays to you and your family....

This thread will become interesting if it turns out the knife in questions was used as a murder weapon and tossed in the bushes!
I was thinking "in before serial killer murders op for not keeping his trap shut."

Edit: op is still a good guy.

Very nice of you to try to find the owner. A better route might be to just contact the apartment management and see if they can provide contact information for the previous tenant of the apartment nearest the spot you found the knife.

Most likely it was stolen and the person who had it ditched it there for some reason.

Depending on what model it is and how custom it is, you might contact half faced blades and see if they remember or can look up who they sold it to if the other avenues don't work. They look to be a smaller shop and depending on its uniqueness might be able to track down the owner that way. Best of luck! And thanks for attempting to return it to the owner!

Holy cow, thanks everyone for the suggestions and support!
I hope I didn't overstep my bounds but I posted a screen shot of your post on their Facebook page.
Nah I appreciate it. As for email, I can be reached insolentgoose@gmail.com (I'll update the original post to include this as well).

Yeah I'll probably try this too. Also the person living closest to the location didn't open the door when I knocked, so I might try leaving a sticky note too.

Did you try contacting HFB?

https://instagram.com/halffaceblades

if it has a serial number or something maybe he has a record of who he sold the knife to.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try this after work. Going to include a photo of the knife and address to see if they're willing to check their customer records.
