If you pre-ordered a DEK3 in Magnacut and want to change your order to Delta 3V, please let Jo know.

I don't know if you've seen this video I put out. My Magnacut is pretty good but my Delta 3V is bananas.

We had this pre-order for this DEK3 in both 3V and Magnacut.

We normally get some losses in any project but we're looking at a very high scrap rate for these due to a cosmetic issue that developed with the steel after heat treat. So much so, that there will be none available in Friday sales and we will be stretched just fulfilling the pre-order.

We have enough normal work to meet about half of the pre-order. We have enough good but not perfect work that we can probably correct some minor cosmetic issues by hand grinding them and meet the rest of our orders. However, it is not impossible that I may end up rejecting enough of these that we may end up needing to issue a few refunds.

So, with that said, if you have a Magnacut DEK3 on pre-order and you want to keep your order as it is, that's probably not going to be a problem. You don't need to do anything and we will attempt to fill your order as originally planned.

But, if you happen to have Magnacut DEK3 on order and you want to change it to Delta 3V, please let Jo know and we will change your order for you.

Thanks,
Nathan

I feel your pain, Nate...but your refusal to take shortcuts or shortchange your customers and, (more importantly), friends, speaks volumes about your integrity. (And by "your" I mean to include Jo and everyone associated with CPK.)

You (all) have my deepest respect and friendship.

I'm just assuming you didn't have the issue when you were testing the various tweaks with your own Magnacut HT. I wonder what the difference in Pete's setup is, that's resulting in the issue?

I'm sure there's a difference between a setup for HT'ing one blade at a time, vs large batches, but still curious if you had any guesses?

I don’t know the exact nature of the issues but if it’s something you can figure out a way to view as “character” instead of a functional defect and be OK letting out of the shop I would cheerfully be in for a couple sight unseen.

Good thing I Ordered my DEK3 in Delta3V as always!.cuz just like everything else when it's brand new I wait at least a year so any bugs
They may have had should have been taken
Care of by then ...and imo Nathan has llthe Delta
Heat treatment process pretty much dialed in
And the good news is that my DEK 3 should be shipping out to me either this week or next week!
And I can't wait to get it in my hands as it's the first non rough use knife that CPK had put out since the potato knife so it's unique in its own way !...
