If you were going to spend 4-5 hundred on a knife, what would you get?

Yup, that about says it. I might blow part of my tax return on an expensive knife. Just wondering as to what peoples opinions are on which ONE knife to buy.

I don't want to hear that I should buy a Manix, 710, Paramilitary and a SERE 2K.

Custom, production, whatever, preferably folders.

It'd be knice if I didn't have to wait 2 years for it though.

I would by a Darrell Ralph Custom Gunhammer or AXD. Awesome designs and I love what he does with tritium.

One of R.J. Martin's knives. If not that a Sebenza.

STR

I'd love to get a big Strider folder. And then actually use and abuse the thing.

cheers

Own a Strider, Owned a Sebenza, Obenauf, and others. I've also handled a few Hinderers. My suggestion would be for you to invest in an RJ Martin folder. His Devastator model is just TOO cool to pass up. Its a flipper, and while it IS a bit on the large side, it doesn't feel overly huge.

I think I would try a DM Knives, this one looks pretty sweet.

I've seen a few really nice custom slipjoints on the Traditional Knives forum. I'd probably go that route.

I'd put my cash in my shirt pocket and watch the knife makers forum and when I saw what I wanted.. Jump on it !...or find the "style" of a particular maker that grabs your attention and commission one built.
I found several builders whose work I like on here and have 2 pieces on order ( 2-3 months) and one Kalinga to be shipped for a re-do by another fellow..

Seems to be a lot of Suggetsions for a Hinderer folder. He does indeed have some cool ones.

I think I am leanig towards a Sebenza with a cool graphic or inlay, or maybe a SnG.

I like the Godfather/Godson, but I think if I get an auto I would go with a Dalton STC.

Then I would buy my first non Spyderco in 2 years.

It would be a Strider(SNG probably) for 2 reasons:
1. One way or another I'm intrigued by them
2. Just to find out what all the fuzz is about;)

BTW is it possible to order Striders fully serrated?

I know they will cost more then, but is it actually possible?

I'd get a custom from a reputable maker. I have one of Brain Tighe's knives and one of R.J. Martin's. I really like Darrel Ralph's stuff, and have something in the works with Richard Derespina. Only one was just over $500 thus far.
