If you were Q, what folder for Bond?

I would be utterly shocked it this hasn't been asked 10,000 times before, but it seems like a fun question. If you were Q (or a movie prop guy/gal for that matter) and you were asked to assign a folder for 007- what would you choose and why? Ideally, it should be more suited to his needs and preferences than your own, but I suppose answering from your own perspective if you were in his shoes could cover the question pretty effectively too.

I think I would assign him the large Sebenza with the carbon fiber inlays. It is sleek and modern enough to look at home in a tuxedo. It is less conspicuous than carrying an automatic of any sort. Utilitarian enough to fit any need from defense, to acting as a champagne saber, to removing bullets from a wound. Since cost really isn't an issue, and broken blades or lost knives wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Anyway, too much Archer, blade forum and nyquil leads to interesting hypotheticals.

Well seeing as its Q and he's not going to give Bond a "stock" anything....I'd say he'd whip up the Q version of an SAK. Longer handle with normal blade as well as an OTF double edged blade and a variety of gadgets (use your imagination) but a laser is included for sure as well as a taser, poison dart, tracking dart, etc. Oh and its also his car keys.

I'm thinking something that looks like a Sebenza, but is somehow a ballistic knife, and has a built-in high-powered laser.

Which Bond? Connery-style Bond? Craig-style Bond?

I was thinking more the Ian Flemming (I think some other authors may have written some later) Bond from the books, but any would work- though it may be wise to specify. And yeah Q definitely wouldn't take anything off the rack- especially in the movies, but in the books at least Bond did have quite a lot of stock off the rack gear (gun, watch, car). I'm a fan of any and all Bonds, but yeah they are all definitely different.

A knife...

With an attached cigarette lighter! No chain smoking secret agent should be without one.

(I know it's not a folder, but whatever. :p)

Definitely a dual action OTF auto of some kind, probably blacked out with mother of pearl inlays.

I think a classy automatic would be almost a requirement. I'd go with a Protech Godfather with some Q style gadgetry thrown in.

MT D/A Socom plainedge tanto '97 grind beadblast.

I was wondering how long till someone suggested the WASP knife. When I think of Connery era Bond films, I'm not sure there is anything more perfect. The lighter knife is hilarious- I sort of think I need that for my desk. I don't smoke, but it might be worth it to start. And an OTF is an interesting choice. When I was laying around earlier in flu medicine haze and first proposed this question to myself, the microtech scarab was my first choice. They seem sufficiently awesome and secret agenty, but less discrete. I think in terms of modern movie Bond though that is definitely the one I'd choose.

Depends on the era. Connery and co would have a gadget. Craig would have a Microtech. The abstract Bond in my head would have an Al Mar backlock.

No extant folder seems to fit the bill. It would need:
Absolutely stainless and nigh-indestructable steel. Coated 3V?
Truly ambidextrous operation
Assisted opening, somehow silenced
An extremely acute point (I'm kinda thinking Paramilitary 2 blade shape)
A relatively thin profile, concealable in almost any setting, but long enough to be useful in combat - 3-3.75 inch blade
CF handles and titanium frame for weight

Now for the very bond-specific part:
Glass breaker
Paralysis poison reservoir (one cut and the enemy is down
Biometric lock (maybe not, due to occasionally needing gloves)

Feel free to add aspects :)

Easy.
Microtech Scarab(Double Edged) Carbon Fiber and Blued Damascus with blue ti hardware and glass breaker.

^^ It does exist lol.

Or perhaps for something a little bigger the Combat Troodon with the same features(not double edged).

And just like that I want an automatic. Damn it.

Anyway, yes that's pretty much identical to what I was thinking for the modern bond- and a ridiculously gorgeous knife.
