I have plenty of first hand experience with Sebbies. They are fine knives but theres no way they would hold up to this kind of abuse.TheKnifeCollector said:Of the knives I currently own, I think my Hinderer Firetac, DMKnives Instigator, and RRF would stand up!! I also think my Sebbies would too

Are the Bucks as strong? Is the difference in strength, fit/finish, materials? The Bucks seem to all used ATS34. What's on the Striders? I'd love to hear comments form someone familiar with both.
That's the key to it. All of them have good steel. That's not their limiting factor. The architecture is what they rely on, and blade geometry.Buck/Striders that are styled after the AR/GB are MUCH closer to the real thing than the ones styled after the SNG/SMF.
SpyderJon said:Well, I have a Buck/Strider mini-tanto, and I can imagine it'd do the job. Would it come out of the task without damage? Nope. Neither would the full-blood Strider. For really abusive tasks, I'd go with the GB if I only carried one knife on me, or a Extrama Ratio if I was going to carry another knife that would cut/slice better. The primary difference is going to be in the thickness of the liners (.085? on the B/S vs. .100 on the Strider), the pivot (regular on the B/S vs. Bull pivot on Strider), steel (BG42 for early B/S- ATS34 later- vs. BG42 or S30V on the Strider), and the fit and finish (Good Buck finish w/rough G10 vs. Strider's more "user" finish with rounded G10).
Honestly, Buck/Striders that are styled after the AR/GB are MUCH closer to the real thing than the ones styled after the SNG/SMF. Of course, my preference is to have a GB.

talonturbo did say that his gb's blade was undmaged after stabbing the fender 6+ times...
Redguy said:I think I would go with something like this. Tanto, sabre grind blade, flat ground edge, thick framelock, and CPM3V steel. I don't know the dimensions, but if the blade thickness is over .180, can't get much stronger than this, if you want a functional folding knife.
SpyderJon said:I'm not sure if you're thinking of a different knife, but I've heard WAY too many stories about Lone Wolf QC on the Harsey folder to take a chance on it. Some of the batches coming out a while ago were just plain bad. I could be wrong, but I believe New Graham actually stopped selling Lone Wolf knives for a time because of this.
