If you were to buy just one Sebenza

Well depends if it is just one Sebenza for rest of my life then I would have to go with Plain Jane Large 21 Insingo. Or maybe a Large 21 starbenza.

I love the Micarta inlay but if you are thinking long term the inlay can possibly come off (just guessing).

Small Sebenza 21 for me. The classic look and the original blade.

Yes. If I am spending the rest of my life in the bush, then a large. If I live in the real world of urban/city/bush a small seb 21 makes more sense and won't sit at home most of the time. Note. I would take the small and a bad ass fixed blade into the bush. Problem solved.

With small blades, I like to have as much cutting surface as possible. That's why I don't like a lot of belly (or partial serrations) on a small knife: I feel like it shortens the usable length of the blade, if you know what I mean.

The Insingo blade shape is a nice compromise for a small knife: nice long cutting surface with just enough belly. The shape of the tip plus swedge gives you good piercing ability as well, which eliminates one of the biggest weaknesses of a sheepsfoot blade.

I agree with this. Go for a small plain Jane insingo, and you won't be disappointed.

Good luck!

I would pick the 25 for my one and only CRK. It just feels more comfortable in hand for me. I also love the ceramic ball that locks up with a nice solid thwack!

I must warn you it's a very slippery slope. I bought "just one" sebenza, my first one in December. I was lucky to find one that shared my birthdate. I've since then sold off ALOT of my other knives....

For me...Large Sebenza Insingo Leftie with Micarta and double thumb lugs.

This is a five for one trade already. I'm not going to discount getting another one if I can find a birthday that I want but collecting things isn't my thing. One of the big reasons I got this was to blow out the accumulation and keep it that way. I still have four traditionals, two moderns, and an auto. The Endura now lives clipped to the sun visor in my Jeep, the 522 will live at the office, one of my 47's will stay at home with my wife for her flowers and my 71 and Hartkopf will hopefully sell. The TR-4 will stay with me and probably move from pocket to bag.

Just one!?

Large Micarta Insingo probably, maybe large Carbon Insingo.

I've been through two of each though and always sell/trade them off when something else pops up.

I currently EDC my Large Micarta Tanto or my Large Starbenza even though I REALLY prefer the Insingo blade profile.

Hmmmmmm...

And I thought I was in deep with 6 since January.

There a few knives I MUST hold in my hand before I commit. A Sebenza is one of them. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone nearby that owns any of CRK products.
I think I want an Insingo though.

Here are my dead honest thoughts on Sebenzas. The Sebenza takes more than a hold to truly appreciate what it represents. It's not the best at everything, not the fastest to deploy or "tacticool", doesn't follow gimmicky trends like bearings, it's a frame lock so not the strongest lock if you baton with folders like a youtube ape (but probably still the best frame lock)...You truly get to realise what the Sebenza is trying to do once you carry it, use it, pull it apart and clean it out after a dirty days work. You notice that the screws aren't going to strip like other knives that use tiny torx screws or flat head drivers, you notice the knife will always center, action will stay the same and that blade-play just never seems to develop. You realise that having 1 tool to break down and assemble your knife just makes sense. It takes time to see it's a knife you can keep for life, and it wont fall apart on you after 5 years. If you are looking for a great life long EDC knife to cut with, not baton with, you wont be disappointed. and FYI i'm not a fan boy, i'm a massive Cold Steel fan actually, Large Seb 21 plain and Cold Steel 4 inch Talwar in XHP are my 2 favorite companions.

Mick ^^^ summed it up very well...

Not many cutlers encourage you to take apart their knives...so this is a testament to the design/engineering/finish of CRK...

And I'll throw another vote in on the side of Insingo with Micarta inlays and double thumbstuds.

The Insingo blade is a bit unconventional looking, but use it for a week and you figure it out.

I like the Micarta inlays because of the texture and it seems to round out my grip just a little better than plain jane...adds some nice visual interest too, IMHO.

2x studs because it's easier for me to open with my off hand...also, adds some visual symmetry for me...single studs just look off balance design-wise to me.

I own a large and a small and they're both tip top performers.:thumbup:

I own a large and small Sebenza with the regular blade, they're just as awesome. However, I prefer the more robust tip of the Insingo blade.

My wife is going on vacation with her friend the week after next so I'll be at home all that week and away from the mailbox. I looks like the Sebenza caught its flight out of Chicago in time to make it to me next week.

Vey curious to see what you settled on.

For me, most days I seem to reach for my CF small drop point (so light in my pocket, I barely know it's there), but damn if the small Insingo micarta doesn't feel great in the hand...

Bottom line: both great EDCs that won't let you down.

Regards,
Adam
