If you were to have a Busse refinished, what color?

I'm addicted ro the original TAN. Garth and Jerry say they can't do that color any longer. It's so sad. If I could, I'd have all of my coated blades colored Tan.


They call me "King of the TAN Clan" at Busse.

I would say from stripping them all!!! The jungle green is the toughest busse coating. So go with that. Or sage

I do agree, to an extent.

For anything other than a large chopper, or anything that may be used in food prep or for everyday delicate work...I agree.

But for a large knife that will see nothing but abuse, I think that the coating makes sense.

I didn't vote as I "HANDS DOWN" prefer a satin finish over ANY coating.

And I have to disagree about maintenance. INFI (if NO Decarb! :thumbdn: ) is pretty easy to maintain.

And while performance is most noticable in smaller knives when through cutting, I will still argue that satin offers advantages in cutting performance at least some of the time even with large choppers - vs. coatings will NEVER be "better" in cutting performance than satin.

The ONLY thing that coatings offer over satin is better corrosion resistance. But, again, while INFI can rust, INFI is stil (IMO) very easy to maintain. And when it does rust, it is usually very light and easy to buff out on a satin finish - especially if a user. :thumbup:

That said, the three colors you picked are about my favorite as far as colors. I probably like the current Sage best right now. But, I do like the toughness and smoother finish on the dark green - although not as fond of the looks of the dark green.

The knife is a BM-E, and the handle is gray (called black) micarta.
