If you work in an office what knife/knives you carrying today?

You guys work in an office and you carry knives like the Emerson Horseman, the Spyderco Police and the CS Recon 1? What kind of office do you work in that requires that kind of firepower? There's nothing I do around my office that can't easily be tackled by my Small Sebenza. Hell, if I'm going to be perfectly honest, I could get by with just my Leatherman Micra and pair of office shears.

I have practically never used my knife in the office (even my sebbie), I have a pretty letter opener and scissors to my left. I just feel naked without one. I carry a keltec .32 in my pocket though, that comes with me practically everywhere.

Edited for bad grammar.

@ Grownstar - the Horseman is gorgeous. What did you trade for it?

Another Emerson. A CQC-7 that I picked up off the exchange. As much as I love the design, I just didn't care for the ergos. The Horseman is slightly more slender and really locks into my hand with that big ol' fingerguard.

Lol... I am in LE and am doing a rotation of (sigh) desk duty in the office. Would much rather be out in the field, but my year is almost up and I will be back out! :D

Yep. I imagine you could strap a short sword to your back and not upset your co-workers. I, on the other hand, would lose my job and spend some time in the pokey if I tried doing that.

For me, at least, discretion is the better part of valor.

My Sebenza 25, ever since I bought it last week I can't seem to put it down. My staff has even caught me peeling an orange with it and opening the mail. I'm trying to find whatever use I can with it, just so I can hold it.

You know how it is, sometimes Connie from Accounts Payable will start a knife fight, or you get in a survival situation and have to baton the conference table's legs to create a signal fire....stuff like that. :)

Really, for me, a Vic Classic is more than enough 99% of the time (Super Tinker is almost overkill). Though I do have a Leatherman Blast and an Opinel 8 in my briefcase.

That said, if one wants to, and can, carry something more massively tactical to open Post-It and Cheetos packages, then more power to them, as far as I'm concerned.

The fact is, I almost never have to reach for my EDC. That's why I keep it tucked away in my wallet. And if I do, it's really because I want to satisfy my ego, not get my job done more efficiently. I wasn't kidding. A Micra and a pair of office shears will tackle 99.9% of everything I need to do around here without raising so much as a single eyebrow. Problem is, they're not very sexy and if that's all I've got, I don't get to participate in threads like these. I mean, who am I going to impress with my Micra and a pair of office shears? But a Small CF Sebenza or a 3" XM-18 or a Laconico Slim EDC or a Rod Olson Quick Flip . . . now those are knives worth bragging about.

Today it's a Kershaw One Ton, but yesterday it was a Vapor III. A Leatherman Wingman rides along in my back pocket.

Every once in a while, I'll carry something a little nicer or more fun, usually to see how a new knife suits me in terms of comfort when carrying and using it. Most of my recent purchases have been fixed blades, which I have no real use for at work, and my latest folder was an Adamas, which is far more knife than I care to lug around the office.

This

or that

*minus the peanut, which I gave away to a coworker. The trapper is my go to for cutting hoagies and other foods!

You picked an interesting day to ask this question-
I normally carry a single large folder, this week I'm carrying a digicam/satin Para2 clipped to my pocket.
I just got a used Delica 4 so I'm experimenting with carrying it in my pocket as a second blade.
And today for grins I put in my pocket my 4" SOG automatic (Texas!)

I work at a school and can't carry. So I just carry my dragonfly in this tiny hidden pocket in my slacks. One day I was doing an activity that I needed to cut some things with. Even the dragonfly elicited murder weapon comments from my students such as, "who you gunna stab with that Mr. ----------?" ...Shaking my head...

PM 2 on my belt, Vic Electrician in my pocket, and a Kershaw Leek in my 'utility taco'. The only time anybody has ever said anything to me about my knives is when I carried my SRKW Rodent Solution in a leather sheath. For some reason, that sheath made me the most dangerous guy in the facility. Nobody noticed when I was carrying it in a kydex sheath; but, as soon as I put it in custom pants everybody was up in arms. Plain silliness if you ask me.

Soddy Jr. I visit the wife's office and I'm able to set it in the tray, pass thru, and pick it up. Its 2 3/4 blade is legal in Larimer County's Courthouse. They're not too fond of exposed pocket clips, though. I leave the Bokers in the truck. But where pocket knives are restricted, conditional, and monitored, office shears are not so in her desk drawer is a pair of Wiss industrial shears with high carbon 6 1/2" blades. Ordered them from Grainger and they delivered right to my wife's office. Not to much those can't tackle, boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, mountain lions....

I've got the ZT 0777 M390 in my back pocket and a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189 in my watch pocket. Oh, and a Spyderco Ladybug in ZDP-189 (a present from my girlfriend) hanging on my keychain along with a Leatherman Style CS. Wait, and a Leatherman Skeletool CX clipped to the LFP. I get the usual comments (including "That thing is too sharp!"), but I'm the manager here. :)

Awesome blades guys. Can't wait to see the sheeples' reaction when I carry my Glock 21 in an OWB holster. Pick it up this weekend! Will let you know how that goes. For now I'll stick with my 3 blades. Maybe tomorrow I'll go for 4!
