what would you carry if it was totally normal to have a fixed blade on your belt?

I think I would go for a 6" fallenkniven or a vietnam era KBAR.

6" is a mite big for urban needs mate:eek: Wilderness? yeah OK.

For 99% of urban or farm needs today a 3" > 4" blade is just the ticket.

My favorite fixed blade for daily use is a Dozier Striaght Personal :D
This little guy does amazing things with a 27/8" D2 blade:D :D

If it were socially acceptable, I'd be wearing my Dozier K-4 every day. As it is, I'm inquiring with Bob about a smaller fixed for pocket carry.

You mean it's NOT! I carry a Buck 102 Woodsman everyday when I'm working. In a BladeTech sheath it's a great boot knife.

For open carry it'd have to be my Cattaraugus 225Q or a Puma White Hunter, until I get a Strider or a B/S 888.

I think I'd probably carry a SOG Navy Seals 2000...although I'm very interested in that CRK Nkonka too (just never handled it in person)...

I'd carry a tomahawk. Why not?

Heheeh benifite of being a Canadian, I can carry any size knife or axe with out any judicial repercusions (sorry for spelling)

What I do carry? A Randal 5"er on my belt. For the most part it does the job. Job meaning stuff in the kitchen. The only reasion why I carry a belt knife at all...is cuz I can an use my rights were ever I can.

I also loved the time I went to MEC with my SEAL 2000 straped to my leg, an my wife had her SEAL Pup on her idy bity waist!!!

Should have seen the tree hugers look at us funny!!!!!!!

my small buck diamond back wears pretty well

but then again its getting so bad im surprised
they still give out toothpicks in restaraunts :D

Just one? Hmmmm, decisions, decisions... I have to make up my mind between Kabar, USAF Pilot's knife, Fallkniven S1, or finally getting that SOG SEAL 2000 or Seal Pup.
My wife tho, would probably carry her CS Recon Tanto.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to carry pretty much whatever I want without it ever drawing comment. Us Southerners don't get excited about seeing a knife on someone's belt. I carry a fixed blade about 50% of the time or more (100% if you count my neck knife-top knife in my avatar) in place of a folder.
My most often openly carried fixed blade is a Rinaldi Gambit with a 3.4" blade-the bottom knife in my avatar-worn horizontally on the belt. I also frequently carry either a Rinaldi TTKK with a 4.5" blade, or a DDR CF ALB with a 4" blade. Other times it might be a Nimravus I use for a beater, and at work. 4-4.5" is about ideal for an "all-around" knife, IMO, and I have more fixed blades in that size range than any other. Got a couple of 4.5" Busses, but haven't gotten kydex for them, and the supplied sheaths, though fine for the outdoors, don't make for comfortable carry as an EDC, especially when driving, so one of them usually stays in the truck.

CS Master Hunter and a SAK in the pocket.

When I first got the Master Hunter and placed it on my belt, I immediately thought, "By God, I should be allowed to carry this thing on my belt anywhere. It feels like it has always been a useful part of me, from the get go."

And then I cam back down to earth. Thanks, Kalifornia liberals. :(

Yeah but no guns! I live in Arizona part of the year
and guess what guns and knives can be worn on your
hip anywhere anytime.

I'll go with a 4 incher for urban use usually a Busse
Killer Bee.

Another vote for a Dozier KM-6 Arkansas Toothpick, as I need something easy-to-carry and unobtrusive on my belt.

Here's a pic of it, alongside my G26:
<sorry, see next post below>

If the sky were the limit, it would be my Hossom with a 14" S30V blade in a Dundee rig. It is very fast but has great reach.

Big John has only made two bowies in D2 using the stock removal method. I've got one of 'em with a 10" triple quenched blade that I wish I could carry all the time. Nice quench line and a real cutter!

Love his knives!

Hey Guys,

I carry my SK-1 model everyday it is a little over 13" overall and a little over 8" blade. True you may not need a big knife every day, but when you need a big knife and all you got is a 3" blade hunter it makes things tough. I have got use to carrying it and I don't even notice it any more. Kinda feels weird when I don't put it on in the mornings. I use it alot for getting things off tall shelfs in the shops or reaching behind something and scratching it out. It is like a sharp extension of my hand:)

Keep It Sharp
