If you're on the fence about an Umnumzaan, let me sway you.

sorry to hijack, but out of curiosity, does the Umnumzaan not come with a blue cloth. I was reading some threads and saw CR state that all folding knives come with the blue cloth(granted they're not one of the older models of the sebs, etc). But for models that are 2011 and up, is it just the umnumzaan that doesn't get it?

My Zaan came with one.

The one thing I was on fence about is s30 at 58-59 because I'm just happy enough with my ti military at 60.my cousin let me borrow his um and a week later I put a order in for the lg starbenza. I don't know if its the grind or what but the edge retention was just good enough for me .

I really think they are closer to 59 HRC from what I saw when I tested my Zaan, edge retention was excellent.

In my rope to cardboard test I cut cardboard after the rope until I got tired, took a break, went back and cut more until I got tired of cutting it, the knife would still slice printer paper after.

It's really a beautiful thing isn't it! Mine should be back end of this week and the para2 will be sent off to get reprofiled.

Yeah they are excellent. :D

The Zaan kicked all my other knives out of my pocket. :)

I want one but I already have 5 folders with two one the way I order quite a while ago!
That's the tough part with CRK knives, it's tough to have just one and if Ankerson says "it's good", you know it's good!

Thanks for the Complement. :)

Chris Reeve really out did himself on the Zaan IMO.

The design is so good in the improvements made over the Sebenza really stand out and make for one of if not the best folder on the market right now IMO.

It's just one of those knives that one could use for everything or almost everything and feel good about using it. :)

It slices through cardboard like a Lazar beam due to the well designed blade geometry and it's EVEN down the whole cutting edge within .001" of an inch by my measurements.

Yeah i had just talked with Jessie at CRK and she said all folders come with it. Mines probably playing on ebay somewhere :P

The Umnum is such a great user knife. The sebenzas are classy, but the Umnum's are definitely there with confidence. God these knives beautiful~

I got the one with a tanto blade. It's polished with some stone wash left along the back of the knife. I'm loving it. Took about a week to break in.

Love my Zaan's! Worth every penny and readily available.

Mine were all pretty tight upon arrival. A little CR grease and they open like butter. They were a little dry out of the box. The false upper edge makes a great firesteel striker.

I'll post this again for those who missed it in the past. There is a slight difference between the Star-Zan and the regular Zaan's I have. You can see it in this photo.

It's nice to read these objective reviews written after one has really 'lived' with the knife. I recently acquired another one of the so called high end knives, one in the $650.00 range, and have just been less than impressed with it when compared to the 'zaan...not a great slicer, looser tolerances, so so fit and finish. I really relate to the '$400.00 knife that feels like a $400.00 knife' statement from this perspective. I have had my 'zaan for about a year and have tried many other brands but just keep coming back to it and the CRK brand.

I don't really know it I like the starzan having more area to get at lockbar . For this reason, your making a knife with a pretty slim profile slimmer. I had no problem getting at lockbar on regular zan.
