So i assume all of you in this sub forum love your Becker knives:love_heart: but what would you be using if the company didn't exist?

i would be using the Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter

Probably ESEE. But would still need aftermarket scales and sheaths.
Also ScrapYard and Swamp Rat.

Probably a mix between busse, spyderco mules and customs.

My Nephew showed up at my house a couple of years ago with an ESEE 5. I was enamored with the 1/4" thick blade and would probably have one today if the price was not nearly double what a BK 2 is. After finding the BK 2 for sale around the net I came here and you folks talked me into it and I'm glad you did. The handle is much more comfortable than the ESEE with as good steel. The Nephew agrees with me on the handle comfort and tried to talk trade with me which I refused.

If Becker did not exist I'd probably go with at least some ESEEs

wow esse is a popular choice, if I needed a bigger blade than the Bushcrafter I would look in to the cold steel trail master in o-1

LOL! But the conundrum is you would never of known about them.

But one can always wish for better, regardless of it being non-specific.

Ever thought about having a flying car?

I cannot imagine not having Beckers.

However, before I saw the light on Beckers I would say that Busse and Esse can fill the bill ... but not like the Becker in the value - performance - durability - ergo categories.

Fallkniven also makes some nice knives but cannot touch Becker in the value - performance - durability - ergo categories.

I don't like this thread...

Maybe ESEE, but I'm not all that find of them. Probably Condor, then a good mix of customs, and at least one Fisk knife.

Its a really good question and I can't say that I have a ready answer for it, though Ka-Bar and Ontario come to mind pretty quick. Ontario makes some tough knives at a good value. Unfortunately Esee has never really grabbed at me, simply because I never felt they could offer me anything better or different than that which BKT can give me, though that could potentially be different if Beckers were not in the equation at all.

before I met Ethan, Izula 2, ESEE6, and Junglas were my woods trio.
since I met Ethan, it's been the BK24, BK16 and an M18.

Since the King (BK9) was the knife that got me hooked on fixed blades (for outdoor use - I was already into kitchen cutlery) and nearly everything else I own kinda flowed outta that and led me to BF in the first place....
I'd have to say I wouldn't know any of you - and I'd still be happily using and abusing my Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Knife. Thank goodness I found BF and the ever insightful philosopher bigghoss' BK9 wisdom. No Beckers? I might have gotten that RTAK, been mildly disappointed, and that would have been it.

Knowing what I now know - which I probably wouldn't know if not for Ethan, mind - I'd prolly be carrying a DPX HEST, a BRKT Bravo 1 and a Junglas....plus Moras, LightMyFire (Mora), a Kershaw Diskin Hunter & fixed Skyline, a custom Matt Bailey, anything from Spartan Blades....and my 20+ year old, Blackie Collins designed Gerber Clip. There are others. But I'm really, really glad that this question is only hypothetical.

Of course I like my Beckers, but I'm a knife person. I like lots of different blades. Love my ESEE 6. one of my favorite blades. Actually, it's an older RAT model, but, same thing. Love my T.M.Hunt Yuma, my Aranyik E-nep, Condors, etc. Pretty sure Ethan likes, uses, and is inspired my other manufacturers.

By the way, Ethan, make your tweener handles longer dammit, haha. Only reason I don't own and use a 16.

i use them all as i find them, afford them, trade for them.

it's not an only if

I would still be using what I was using before I encountered Beckers - Kabar 1232, 1217s, 1221s and 1281s, various Westerns - W49s, L46-8s, L46-6s, L46-5s.
