I got a few of these blocks form a friend who was stationed on Guam in the USAF.
I do not work with wood much but this ifilwood (Intsia retusa) reminds me of rose wood. It is very dense and seems like it would be excellent for knife handles.
This piece is 7 1/2 x 2 x 2 1/2.
