I have,as many of you have, donated to Nepal and Tibet.
I received a letter from Chogyal Namkhi Norbu.
He states," The Dzogchen teachings are neither a philosophy, nor a religious doctrine... Understanding the message of the teachings means discovering one`s own true condition."
I believe the last statment. I do not believe the first two, in my understanding of Bhuddhism. Actually my interest is in the Zen branch.
Bhudhism is not a religion in it`s pure form. However, it has been prostituted into one.( This will get me kicked off the forum.)
It is a philosophy. The master is wrong and the emperor wears no clothes. More importantly, it is a way to be aware of the present. To grasp the moment.
In Zen, it is a way to savor, focus on it, a moment without forgeting that there is a dangerous world out there.
I rekon I`m still obtuse.

Thanks for your time. I do not feel like doing much better for those who will not understand.

And sometimes I think people use different words to mean the same thing, or the same words to mean different things, if you get what I mean...

Has anyone here ever read the story "The Garden of Forking Paths" by Borges? It is a good short story.

Yes, it is; I like Borges - the "Labyrinth" is quite good too.

Personally, I was always partial to "The Little Prince". Simple but real.

A great story that will really make you think is "The Damned Thing" by Ambrose Bierce. That is an outstanding story. Another great story is the Old Man and the Sea, I think everyone should be required to read it ;) :).

My personal favorites are "The Pokey Little Puppy" and "Mike Mullagan and His Steam Shovel".

Simple yet complex on so many levels. ;)

What am I talking about!?! The best book ever is "Where the Wild Things Are" I LOVE that book. Also "Not Now Bernard" is fantastic Camus and Sartre don't have anything on those books.

I have read some of the afore mentioned.
The next time I pour my heart and soul into a post; I will do it on Word. At least I will know what I said.
I really could not do that one again.
Some would say "Good! I don`t understand a word anyway!".

I've learned from sad experience not to try to write any extra-long or heart-and-soul posts directly in the forum-editor. Using Word or something is a good idea (plus, you can save the file).

I regret that your message was sucked into one of the dark recesses of the electronic universe....I would have liked to have read it.

cheers, B.

Whoa, Borges and Bierce ???

I've little literary exposure, but these are two of my favorite "serious" (according to academia -- not my criteria) authors. Amazing what shows up here.
All the short stories by Borges collected in "Lambrinths" are incredible. I may have to start reading that again.

For a demented "Where the Wild Things Are" sorta thing, check out stuff by Liz Rosenberg illustrated by Stephan Gammel. I have one called "Monster Mama". Outstanding illustrations.

"Use what works for you and leave the rest"

Did it that way for many years Uncle Bill. Funny how the older I become the more the gaps I left now contain the answers to complete the whole.

Warlock6,
Wolfe was wrong, one can go home again,"It's just never the same"!It can be better or worse BUT never the same!I have a problem picturing YOU as a practicioner of Bhudhism,Zen,yes,Bhudhism no!I say ANYMORE & we will "both" cease to exist on the forum!

Jim, with all due respect; it is a big world out there.
All are seeking; few are finding.
Zen is a Warrior`s Way. Cosmology, astronomy, quantum physics, partical acceleration. They all seek. There are answers out there.
