Ignorant Newbie Question about removing coating

Would this work on the 154cm on my ZT 0200 as well?

Yes and no. 154cm is stainless but its still steel and will still stain eventually. Since stainless steel is really just stain-less. I got a mustard patina on an aus8 blade once but it sat FOREVER and was still very light and wore fast. High carbon is where its at for patinas.

Sandpaper to polish it?

Yes sir 400 and up. I stop at 1000 usually. Then either blue or patina it. The polish Blade beneath a force patina gives a cool effect. One if the coolest patinas I did was a near mirror polished blade at 3000 grit then a mustard pattern and 0000 steel wool. Gave it kinda a ghost effect where you could only see the pattern in certain light

Been thinking about stripping a Becker and I've got a question -- if you patina a blade and then decide you don't like it, can you still polish it, or have you somehow stained the metal for good?

Should be able to sand and polish.... Patina is surface discoloration...I can sand with 1000 grit and it comes off... With enough elbow grease you should be able to get it off completely.

A polishing compound like no 7 and a scotch brite pad will take off most patinas. Try that before sandpaper and if its a tough one then 1000 grit paper will take it off with ease. Even use will take it off. That's why I stopped doing pretty patterns on mine. They just got wrecked and then I was sad

No. I tried it on a 440A blade and the mustard sat for over a day and just left a very light discoloration. It was a cool tint of blue but barely noticeable. This thread needs more pics!

Mustard on the top one and the start of a natural on the bottom one.

I used klean strip gel stripper. Let it sit in a disposable foil pan for about 30 minutes. Most of it came off easily, the stubborn parts I scraped off with a credit card. Then polished.
