IG's economic stimulus plot

I went to IG's last hammer in and something even stranger than normal happened.
I, er, uh, won the raffle
This never happens.

So now I had a forge.
Along with a long line of people promising me infinite crap if I didn't use it

Of course that meant that I needed a couple of other little things:
Anvil and propane hookup were pretty mandatory.
A thermocouple and CO detector seemed like good ideas.
More than one hammer and pair of tongs might be useful...

I'm not quite there yet but it's getting closer.
The anvil is a 200 lb Peter Wright from my local used anvil dealer.
The stand is 2x12's following a plan I found on anvilfire.

So far my free forge has cost me around $900. I'd say the stimulus plot worked!

Thank you IG!

Dan it looks like your getting a really nice set up. I'm jealous :)

congratulations

Jake

You need to come down to my shop and do some forging still Dan =P It's been too long since i did a bunch of forging, unfortunately, so i'm just working on getting my calouses back so i can swing a hammer all day =/

Been working on a historic forging setup to do some demos with, first demo is in 3 weeks and i need to get in 'forging shape' by then =D So i'll be spending a lot of time in my shop in the next few weeks.

I just may manage it. Hope to be at IG's Saturday but the rest of this weekend and maybe the following look free. Then there's my wife's god-child's graduation to go to in Maine.

I'll be at IG's saturday as well, to shield Jeff the new guy from too much insulting portugee humor and chowhounds =P

After that, I'll probably be at my house the rest of the weekend if you want to fire me off an email / PM / give me a call.

Looking good Dan!

Hopefully I can stop by again this summer and see your new setup.

All the best, Phil

Dan, sweet looking anvil ya got their  Hope you had a good time yesterday at Wa..Wa..Wally's :D Those Fava beans did the trick

I guess that depends on whether or not you want rocket fuel or jet fuel :D
Or stump blower. A pal of mine has some big oak and hedge stumps to remove and I bet you IG's famous HT Relish would be just the ticket. A fella would have to water it down a lot, so as to safe handle it and also not use the straight relish that would result in disasterous results. I am thinking of a hard to control "critical mass" type of an explosion using IG's famous IG's HT Relish.
