IKBS licence?

I tried contacting IKBS by email form their site about getting a licence to use their bearing system but so far nothing after 2 weeks. Does anyone know if they are still in business or is there actually no licence required to use it?

I sent an email to them and Duane Weikum <dw@edcknives.com> responded. He appears to be their contact in North America, since they forwarded my email to him for a response. Here's what he stated in the email to me:

The process to license IKBS is pretty simple. Build a prototype (or two) using IKBS and when you are happy with it, send the proto to our address listed below for review. (We would appreciate a return shipping label as well.) We’ll have a look at it and recommend any adjustments required for proper operation. We will then return the proto to you. In most cases, license is granted after the first proto. We do this to insure proper usage of the IKBS.

Once licensed, we require the IKBS logo to be placed in a prominent location on the knife, preferably on the blade, but we’ll leave that up to the knifemaker. We supply the logo image of course.

That’s about it. There are no fees required for handmade knives.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,

I hope I am not stepping on any toes here.

I had the same thing happen. Sent a second email and got response the next day. I'm guessing my first did not get through. This was in the past 2 weeks. Try sending another email. Free is a pretty good price for the license.
