I sent an email to them and Duane Weikum <dw@edcknives.com> responded. He appears to be their contact in North America, since they forwarded my email to him for a response. Here's what he stated in the email to me:
The process to license IKBS is pretty simple. Build a prototype (or two) using IKBS and when you are happy with it, send the proto to our address listed below for review. (We would appreciate a return shipping label as well.) Well have a look at it and recommend any adjustments required for proper operation. We will then return the proto to you. In most cases, license is granted after the first proto. We do this to insure proper usage of the IKBS.
Once licensed, we require the IKBS logo to be placed in a prominent location on the knife, preferably on the blade, but well leave that up to the knifemaker. We supply the logo image of course.
Thats about it. There are no fees required for handmade knives.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
-Duane Weikum
