First off pros/cons. Does anyone have strong feelings one way or the other about this bearing style?

Do any of you guys here use it? Any one you know use it?

My question is about whether it would be worth it to have bearings on one side and phosphor bronze on the other, or would the phosphor bronze washer negate any advantage of the IKBS.

*That was so hard to write without being redundant.*

I wasn't aware it existed until I saw Ken Onion assembling one a couple years ago. It struck me as COOL. The flippers of his that I handled glided open smooth as silk with no play. The way he was doing it, the frame had races machined into it at the pivot, and the tiny bearing balls sat directly inside.

I'd love to try it sometime. I don't know if going to the trouble of IKBS on one side and not the other would make much sense to me.

Just my $0.02.

I wish I could find more info on it. I wanted to do a frame lock with G10 on one side. I think I'll do a frame lock with a liner one the G10 side and CBore the blade a bit on the liner side, and c'bore the frame on the thick Ti side. If I do I make a WIP.

More opinions would be great.

I wish you luck. It would be cool if you did a WIP of that. You could use a thick liner on the G10 side maybe- the c-bore didn't have to be that deep, IIRC.

Info you probably already found:

Also, I think Tracy sells some IKBS bearings, c-bores, and has some info too.
