Today was in the high 70`s, perfect for a hike in one of my favorites areas, Hickory Creek Preserve, which is very close to home. We went on a 4 mile loop, which took us through prairie areas, woods, by the creek, and by a pond I used to fish at when I was a kid, 50 years ago. Hope you enjoy the photos.

That place looks like a great place to hike in, John.

Thanks for the tour:thumbup:.

Looks much like the area I went fishing in a few days ago. Thanks for the pics

Great job capturing Illinois, although I've not been to that particular place. The black eyed susans are in full bloom right now, and the right prairie can look almost on fire when the wind blows. Queen Anne's lace and milkweed are also going great guns right now.

Hope to see you on the same trail someday!

I grew up in Illinois not more than 50 miles from Mokena, but never heard of that town before. :)

Nice to have someplace to hike so close to home.

Looks like a good time brother. My sister used to live in Mokena some years ago. I live in central Illinois myself.

I`ve lived in Mokena for 56 years.

My dad was from Lansing, about twenty miles to the east. I grew up in Sheridan, near Ottawa, about 50 miles west.
You have to hunt around to find them and time your visits, but Illinois has a lot of nice state parks.

I`ve been to Sheridan many times, one of my customers lives there.

Nice shots, I really enjoyed exploring the woods and fields on a friend's farm in Ill. when I went up to help him work on his house a couple of years ago.

The nice part about hiking here is that there is quite a bit of shady areas along the trails. The way the weather has been here lately, that`s a good thing.

I love being out and about in Illinois when the weather is nice. Heading to Mathiessen is next on my list.
