I recently did a deal with a forumite who paid me via MO; well, I stuck the MO in my money clip this morning, and figured I'd stop by the post office this afternoon and cash it. I got there, went to pull it out, and discovered that sometime since this morning (probably when I went to pay for my daily cup of coffee), it worked its way out of my clip and out of my pocket. Tomorrow I'm going to check at the coffee shop and see if somebody turned it in behind the counter, but I'm wondering if there's any way to have it refunded/claim it. It's for $100, so it's worth some time on my part to deal with the USPS or fill out any forms. Thanks for the input, guys, I really appreciate it.

The purchaser of the money order would have to put a tracer on the M.O. and pay $3.75 I believe to cancel the lost one.Unfortunatly,I'm told a refund can take 1-2 months or more to receive from the Post Office.Good Luck

I went thru this not too long ago. The cost is nominal and the only problem is that you MUST wait until the expiration of the MO, which is usually 30 days. As long as you have the reciept. No reciept and things get very "postal"......wolf

Errr...never mind. Found it on the seat of my truck. Now where's that embarassed smiley? :o

Burke,

Since you obviously can't be trusted not to lose that Money Order again, you are hereby directed to cash it, and send the $100 cash to me.;).

BTW...Please notice that I AM a moderator of THIS forum, so what I say is LAW!.:D.:p.:D.

You know, some ugly girl gives me her phone number, and that'll stay in my wallet for months, but a hundred bucks? That flies right out of my pocket in under a day.

Burke, I'm glad you found it. Last time I had one to get lost in the mail (so I thought) it took forever to get my money back. Mine got stolen out of the person's mailbox and it got cashed at a convenience store. The store then deposited it without it endorsed on the back and they had to have cashed it without seeing any ID. It is the biggest hassle in the world to get your money back on those things :(
Ok, I'm finished ranting :D

The way to help that problem in the future, is to get phone numbers from RICH ugly girls.

:D
