I'm a fake but I've acheived that magical 1/4 oz per inch light and fast holy grail.

OK, I woke up with kind of a big head, wife is ticked off for unknown reasons, she don't talk when she's like this so we'll just have to weather the storm, and it's raining and nasty outside.

Perfect project day.

Some success and some failure but being first and perhaps last attempt, figured I'd share. The martial arts thread was getting a little muddy for me, admittedly I don't really have a lot of interest in martial arts. I'm a lover not a fighter and if somebody deserves to be put down I do it quick and painlessly with a 45.
So perhaps my heart wasn't totally into this when I started but it gradually kind of grew into the project.

Anyhow the mission- Make a WWII safe and sane what don't hurt nobody. Only WWII I have is my Amtrak Raju Rasali so it was my pattern.
Goal to match weight and balance, in this respect I have dismally failed big time. I figured enough pencil lead recessed in the spine at various points could come close to weight and balance but alas not so and I don't see how I can possibly even come close.

I know some of these words are kind of big for Bookie so I'll start some pictures so it makes some sort of sense.

The potential victim- fine piece of pine board.

The model and the victim after some preliminary whittling.

Beautiful convex edge, tried my hand at differential tempering, dismal failure, project kept wanting to catch on fire???

Requisite UB mark although I'm pretty certain he would be disappointed in me.

I chose the outhouse as my mark, so guess I'm now the outhouse kami?

Went chiruwa handle with villager fit and finish.

Lots of pencil lead, but not nearly enough.

And as usual made a heck of a mess.

Into it for 5 hours and 15 minutes, not that time really matters, you can't save it in a bottle according to Jim Croce.

And lastly and probably most worthwhile, babies on parade yesterday.
Left to right, sister (Insane), Me (also insane) holding Shaylin, wife, daughter holding nieces 11 day old Liam, and niece in law. Liam slept most of the day, Shaylin was smiling a ton and happy.

Please don't think I'm trying to hijack this thread. besides my mouth watering over all the bullets and powder on your shelves....as a book collector, if you get the chance..I sure would like to see a pic of the rest of the books on that shelf! :)

Doubt there's anything really collectible but I'll go do that right this moment before my head forgets.

Mr. B. That wooden model looks super cool. Great job there! Better than what I have to go through. I had the family thing with my family yesterday, my monster in laws today, my parents and sister's family on Saturday. You know when Sunday comes around, I'm gonna need something soothing, like a FEW really strong alcoholic fueled drinks, some football, and "me" time, before Monday comes rolling around. Damn...where did my 4 day weekend go????

Doubt these pics are good enough to really see anything but best I got. I do have nearly every Louis Lamour book ever wrote behind on the top two shelves. Have some duplicates.

Feel free to ask if you find something interesting or unclear.

Very nice job Bawanna! That thing would still bust someones noggin if you hit them with any force at all but guess is better than getting split wide open at the dojo. Wrap it up in several layers of bubble wrap Ill play with ya!
Theres a happy family! I notice Shaylin is always in grandpas lap. It will probably always be that way. Cool aint it:thumbup:

Very, very cool! My wife walked in while I was looking at your books and she says "that looks like ours!" And, it does! We share many of the same books. Patrick McManus, The two outdoor live books.. a treasury of and the outdoor survival. Gunsmith kinks. Marine sniper. Also the copy of Bartle Bull Safari sure caught my eye!!

I love looking over peoples book collections, gun rooms, studies, man caves, work benches computer desks etc just to be able to see some of the amazing things some of them have accumulated over the years. Not to be nosy, mind you, but I appreciate these things I see and to hear the stories behind them.

Thank you for taking the time to post the pics. Much appreciated.

Babahha, you're nuts in a totally cool way. If ya can't buy em' make em'..right. Great job. Love it.

This is actually a mission for Scara so he has something to practice his ninja moves with but won't alarm the neighborhood.
I wear one on my riding lawn mower, I enjoy alarming the neighborhood.

I'm waiting to see if Scara sees any merit in this plan or if it's destined to the wood stove.

It looks like a khuk, kind of feels like a khuk although I should spend more time on the handle. I kind of blew the side to side material so I end up with a two dimensional bell on the end.

For a toy I'm not ashamed but as usual I coulda done better.

beautiful work on the khuk, love your kami mark

! and I have many of the same books on my shelf ! thanks for sharing bawanna, you have an awesome family!

Great pair there Bawanna, 11 day old grand niece and Shaylin, what a combo. And the pair of Khuk and Wooden Khuk are awesome too. I can't wait to hear what Scara thinks of it as a practice tool. Hehe and the Kami mark is hilariously amazing.

Maybe I could put a gate hinge on it and make it a folder.

I might have an extra brass gate hinge left over from my last project. You could even put a brass keeper and brass bolster and...well thanks to bookie im up to my brass in rass:D

Lol looking good there sir (ker), that there be a toy for the little one after ya play with it some. I didnt know ya read either?? Your a man of many talents!!
