I know the feeling. Whenever I go camping or hiking with my friends, I'm always the "fire guy". Making fire in the snowy, rainy, soaking wet British Columbia conditions we have here is my specialty, and nobody else ever wants to do it when I'm around.

However, a few weeks ago during a particularly rainy day hike turned hunting trip, that wasn't the case. We had just caught lunch, and I was about ready to cook it up. My girlfriend saw me prepping a spot for a fire, and asked if she could build it this time. I said sure, handed her my knife, saw, and firesteel, and sent her into the woods while my cousin and I cleaned up the Grouse we had caught.

The result?

Yep, she's a keeper.

Awesome B, gotta love that lady. Mine is the same way, she's got here own blade, firesteel, and knows the basics. We are working on getting her gear count up, but like yours, mines a keeper.

Now we got to go out while your on vacation, just so she can show off her firebending skills

Congrats Chris, my signicant other takes great pride in her ability to start a fire with a ferro rod and often tells me to leave "her fire" alone.
