UPS just delivered my new Spyderco Military C36GPE that I won in the recent trivia contest right here on this Forum. This is my first Military and all I can say is WOW!!! This is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, the _sharpest_ knife I have ever gotten from any factory, that includes supposedly highend ones from MT and BM. The lockup is much tighter than my AFCK. I did loosen the pivot screw 1/4 turn (my personal preference) so I can now wrist snap it open and it is smoooootttthhhh, but still tight with zero blade play. I just can't believe the CPM440V steel is so sharp. I will definitely get a Bladeforum Native now mostly because it has this wonderful steel and I have wanted a blue knife for a while (blends in great when wearing blue jeans). This knife screams "QUALITY!" I will never buy another "Brand B" knife again. Many thanks to Sal and Danelle for the opportunity to win such a fine piece of equipment. This knife has found a permanent residence in my BDUs (Battle Dress Uniform). All I can say is thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

John (aka Chief),

I'm not surprised at all with your reaction. The Military is an absolute brute performer with finese features not found in similar combinations elsewhere.

Only possible caveat, since you mention your BDUs, is the SF folks and their obsession with 4" maximum lengths and how they go about taking actual measurements. You'll no doubt have no problems because of your seniority, but a much younger troop might. Just something to think about when you see your friendly SF counterpart at the next Chief's meeting

I did NOT escape from the institution! They gave me a day pass!

Welcome aboard Chief,
As many others can attest, you will grow to love that knife more and more.
Once the black clip is out then you can go covert in or out of uniform.
I know I can't wait.

Hey Chief - congrats! I received a visit from the big brown truck on Friday too. Along with a MOD Trident that I got from Tim Flanagan at Nor'east Knives, I received a Military C36GSE (serrated) from Howard at KnifeCenter.

WOW! I can't believe how incredibly light this big honkin' folder is. A few well placed dabs of Chris Reeve's white flourinated grease and this blade is flying open. Lockup is perfect. Passes the spine whack test. I can't wait for the black clip though. After hearing so many great things about the 440V, I'm looking forward to testing it out.

Hope you enjoy your's. The ranks of the Military are growing daily. Thanks for a great product Sal.

Hi Chief - hope you enjoy your new Military. The other knives you have might be out of action for a loooong while

Welcome to the ranks! The edge-holding on the 440V is incredible! Sharpening is easy, a few passes on the Sharpmaker and hair flies off. Great job Sal and Crew!
