I'm a proud father

Thanks guys. I'm glad you like the tale. I enjoyed watching, and later recounting it.

Thanks also for sharing your past experiences with kids and knives. It's something I'm going to think about, though I don't see her taking possession of her own for at least a couple more years. But I think she's ready to start helping daddy open packages and the like.

How about getting her, her very own pocket "knife", that she can carry and use pretty much without supervision? I'm thinking something like: http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CA207W/case-wooden-pocket-knife-kit-mini-trapper
Might be a useful tool in teaching her correct handling of a knife, without the need of copious amounts of bandaids.
(In my opinion, kids should be atleast 6-7 before handling a knife for real.)

She already has a few of those "knives." This was her first.

And this one is her Play-Doh knife.

She's also an old hand in the use of the butterknife, as she insists on spreading strawberry preserves on toast by herself. Apparently I am not generous enough with the strawberries. :frown:
