I ordered a 6 from knifeworks and next day I ordered the 5 because I knew I had to have them
both. The 5 is a tank. Not only could you cut your way out of a downed chopper but through a block wall
if need be. My 6 feels so good in my hand. We made an instant connection. I cant wait to get to know these
two a lot more.

Very cool--which do you prefer as an all-arounder? My inclination is the 6's ffg, but I prefer the size of the 5. I have Beckers and Busses, but no ESEE's, and I'd love to hear your thoughts. I almost pulled the trigger on a Laser Strike.

Have a 4 in stainless - now I want a 5 and a 6.

I have the 4 as well. Shame on me. The 4 may be the versatile, But something about the 5 stands out. The hell with the weight, that is what I like...... Both will make nice additions to the 4

I have the 5 and yes it is a tank and has done well at limbing and smaller tasks but have a Fehrman Shadow Scout that took its place so probably listing it tomorrow.

pm me regards what you have and $ I would be interested if the price is right....TD

I have no use for a boat anchor(5) as my chances of cutting my way out of a plane/chopper are pretty slim....just like my becker companion which I have to get rid of.

Now the 3,4 and 6 rats I have(before the esee name change) are great knives.
Thin is in for actual knife use......choppers need length not just width IMOP, hand axes went out when they figured out handles.

The Laser Strike is the way to go, IMO. I love mine.

Well then Butcher, to each their own sir... I surmise you don't get out camping and split small timber. The Esse 5 will do a much finer job for this than a thinner knife. Thanks for your feedback..

hell my new Candiru is a tank! I had the 5 and lost it in the woods one night talk about a p*sser! Had custom scales and sheath etc. Still greatly prefer the BK2 over the 5 mainly because BK2 is nearly half the price of the 5 and the BK2 does not have that pointed "glassbreaker" pommel that digs into my side carrying it in its sheath. The BK2 upgrade micarta scales are much nicer than the stock flat sided scales of the 5 and the custom G10 ones I got for it. My little Candiru with its micarta scales hangs from my rear view mirror via a long boot string lol. Little thing came razor damn sharp too! Until Esee stops making their standard scales uncomfortable to use with their flat sides the only other Esee on my list is the Lite Machete.

I have two Izulas ( one 440C stonewashed finish, one 1095 coated ) and a 3. I want to get an Junglas

The 6 feels great in hand. The 5 feels very rugged. They both came razor sharp. I cant pick between the two yet.
I believe you cant go wrong with either. I want the Izula next. Ill bet if you get the 5 or 6 you will order both eventually.
Im going to carry these knives and see if one stands out over the other. Initial impressions was 6 felt the best in my hand but the 5
looks super cool. I did good by getting them both. No regrets now that I have them.

I have both. I prefer the 6 as an all around knife. You can cut up food and baton wood with the 6.

Have fun trying to slice up food with the 5.

I usually carry a 6 and a 3 together when I'm in the wilderness. The 3 is the best for most things I do outdoors.

Have to agree with the 6 better for food prep, the 5 to me does not belong on the table :D

Hmm, I had wrote off the 5 for a while, but I still find myself wanting one! They are really cool looking.

I agree with this with regard to the ESEE lineup. I tend to have a folder instead of the 3-size.
