I'm about to buy a Shiro but I'm worried it's a clones, can anyone take a look?

Don't know anything about Shiros other than it's a good looking knife. Very nice.

Because I had a specific one in mind and would have to watch Vlad's page for months and maybe it would show up at some point. I found one at a reasonable price from a relatively reputable guy and worse comes to worse I can use paypal's refund system if appears to be fake after I take it apart.

When it comes to knives like Shiros it's not as simple as logging onto bladehq, picking your model and adding one to cart.

Patience is a good thing....

There's still nobody on this thread that can guarantee that it's real..might be worth waiting for Vlad, as opposed to buying something and having to take it apart to verify whether it's real or not.

Typically, the minute you tamper with a knife you own it.

Typically, if you get with vlad, he can track down what you're looking for for you. Then you don't have to wait and hope to score it by luck.

"this is not a certificate of authenticity, a document for police that the knife is not a weapon, according to Russian laws, this paper does not give information about the authenticity of a knife."

This is 100% real. Had one just like it. The clones don't bother with the paperwork, and this one looks much better than the clones. Also a telltale sign of a real Shiro is that 'sun' stamped on the inside of the scale to signify it is a single row bearing system. Definitely an authentic Shrio, nothing to worry about

By all means i'm NOT an expert,i do own several Shirogorov's,this looks to me like the real deal, and if i may say so,ALWAYS go Goods & Service's on PayPal.for these amounts of money you have to go the safe way!Have fun with your purchase!

That's good info, Corhoff, and, given its size and insertion inside the packaging, makes more sense than it being a customs document. Thanks for getting that from Vlad.

The web link is an interesting tool, also, and even provides a link to the Shirogorov website at the bottom. I'll have to see how comical a translation app makes it.

On another note, I would join with the opinions of a couple previous posters who have counseled that Paypal protection is not a fallback tool for establishing authenticity. If you tamper with/disassemble a purchase you own it. Taking apart the knife and filing a claim dips your toe into the pool of scammers and further muddies the waters for legitimate buyers and sellers. Not ethical nor fair to the seller.
