Nothing is allowed in California or on aeroplanes. That's what I hated the most.
I laughed so hard as they screened us to go aboard the Midway. I asked what they were looking for? This is California where they have an ordnance for how tight you can tie your shoes. The old guys laughed and said we're looking for AK47's and rocket launchers and such.
I told him I got all that stuff at home but here I can't carry a sharpened paper clip. Couldn't cut the baggage tags off my wheelchair since I didn't have a knife or even a pair of scissors.
I was only there 4 days but I don't recall ever being so happy to get home from anyplace in my life.
Again, not all bad. Yesterday my oldest had driven down so he drove us out to Mission Beach by Sea World and stuff. Wife wanted to see the ocean. Freeways going everywhere, I don't recall any normal two lane roads anyplace.
Funny thing also, getting on the Marine Base, they searched cars and everybody had to get out and go through a screening around a corner. They never made me get out or searched me in any way. Just briefly looked around, didn't look in my bags or ask for ID or anything. I'd make a good training exercise for them security dudes. All of them very nice, no issues.
I even chatted with the commanding general of the base, sadly as I was talking to him I didn't know he was the commanding general, looked like everybody else to me. I tried to identify ranks and such but it gave me a headache. Every body there is either a nobody recruit or a somebody. Just about every one was a Sgt, I did see a female corporal. Big damn place, thats for sure.
I'm home, well fed and happy as a clam that that is over with. Pictures maybe tomorrow. I'm gonna chill for a bit and give thanks I made it out alive while I fondle and caress my IBBB and my 45.
