I used to ride a gutted out Huey to work in the oil patch. My rig was about thirty miles offshore TX coast in High Island block. That ride was the one thing that got me excited enough to actually be early for work. We'd lay on the concrete heliport floor for hours sleeping on our bags waiting for our call to board. If you missed your call your career was over with the company. When the chopper came for crew change it seemed like only two minutes before we were off again. Most of the pilots were ex nam vets. Bookie probably knew a few of them. Regular crew change we used Hueys but if you had to leave or return outside normal crew change hours we would fly out on a smaller choppers. Dont know what they were but they could carry four men. Usually I was alone with the pilot and I could sit up front and wear the full headgear and talk to the pilot during the trip. It also had the bubble glass under your feet so you could watch the ground...or ocean...under your feet. Thats when I saw a 360 degree triple rainbow. The Pilot said he saw a few but chances are you'll never see that again.
