Hey survival people...how it going around here..( I have looked in from time to time) I hope everyone is doing well. I just got back to TX from the NorthEast (Mass.) and have been going crazy trying to get back on track. I had a good time, I didn't get to spend as much time in the woods as I would have liked, but, I did get to go out on several really fun day hikes, and I got to chop and carve till my heart went pitter pat. I started some fires...vasiline and cotton is king! and spotted some really cool animals (ground hog, fisher cat, deer (from the car), snakes (about 100) and squirels and chipmunks up the yingyang). We heard a moose on the first night there, it was about 4:40am and we were drinking a beer in the front yard, it sounded like a moan from the other side or something, really cool. My stepdad saw a coydog when we were out to lunch one day, we were bummed out but we never saw it again. And we spent every hike trying to catch a glimpse of the moose, but alas, we never saw the big guy. We also saw a bunch of birds of every kind, and they were always fun to spot and try to identify.
In the pics, you can see Charliedontsurf from the forums here, he went with me, and also was a huge help around my parents house...they already miss him. I am planning on moving up to MA in a month or so, as I realized that my parents are officially old, and need someone there to do stuff for them, and I looked into it and found a pretty good job offer. I am not in any of the pics, I never really thought to give over the camera, and we only took it with us on 2 hikes, I brought it another time but the batteries died almost as soon as I took it out of the case. You can see our camp or dugout, it has been near my parents house for 50 years or so, and was my regular spot to camp. You can see the small beaver dam we crossed on one of our hikes and a view of some of the wetlands. I had a really good time, and drank way to much beer...good to be back, hope you enjoy the pics. Oh yeah, the first pic is of all the tools I tried out in the woods, my favorites are the barkies and my new SAK, the best chopper by far was the Bahduhar? Kukri.
