Hello, khukumites.
I have a great show and got back home yesterday by noon with four new khuks I got from Vince Oller, including an old large HI Sirupati with stripped gray horn handle that was just great.
Now, unfortunatelly, I couldn't fing no other khukuris for sale there (what is not bad at all, because I would have bough it and it would be even worse to make everything I bough fit into my bag, not to mention its weight!).
When I got home, I found a package from England with a metal handled khukuri I bough at e-bay. It is a bit dirty, the sheath is all rotten and the chakmak is missing, but it is hard and quick and accordingly priced, so I am very satisfied with it, too. I'll post a scan when I clean it up.
Sorry for not have called you, uncle Bill, but I saw your post on the other thread only when I got back home.
So, are my M43 and my 12" Ghopte ready, Uncle?

Hey!!!!
Welcome back Ivan.

Glad too see you made it home okay!!!
I guess this post got shoved down towards the bottom and I didn't see it.
So the trip to Atlanta netted you 4 more khukuri's and then you had an old one waiting for you at home.
What a trip!!!

Was this your 1st trip to the states?
And if so what did you think of Atlanta?

I would have loved to have made it to the Blade Show and perhaps one of these years Barb and me will get to make it down that way at the right time.
But that will take a long time to get enough dollars in order to make the trip memorable.
I mean anyone that made it down and wasn't able to even get one hand made knife would be in dire straits.
And even the little knife show in Little Rock Arkansas last year cost me a little bit since I managed to get one of Ray Kirk's 52100 steel knive's and one of Ronnie Fosters very early 1084 knive's.

Both of these guys bear watching IMO.

These are both a 1st for me since they have been kept in the zip up pouches they came with with only an occasional trip out to look them over again and again.

Maybe one of these days I will take Ray's knife out on an outing to really test it out and I'm betting I won't be disappointed.

Yvsa,

As you know, Ray is a good friend of mine.

You may not know that he has won the last two American Bladesmith Society (ABS) "Cutting Contests".

He beat several big name Master Smiths in so doing, and as I've known for some time, Ray's knives are some kind of sharp!!!
(On top of that, they are some of the most reasonably priced handmades to be found.)

Use that knife, Yvsa. He'd want you to, and besides, if you didn't feel like reworking it later on, Ray'd do it for you for next to nothing.

Thanks, Yvsa

I am with five new pieces to play with and no time for any of them, now! Too bad, I couldn't even find the time for a good cleanin on the old one.
Regarding the trip, it was my third to Atlanta and my fourth to the US.
I have no first hand experience about the other shows in the US but this one is just fantastic - you better save your pennies because you will surely come back home with a few more knives. Isn't it, Elliott?
Too few khukuris, though, and not a single one wothwhile taking, as I said before.

Hello, Jim
I would love to be at the Guild show but I think I am going to miss it this year, as now I have to work on my own show, the SPKS 2001, that happens in September, 29/30.
I think I will attend the Canadian Show in October, if everything goes well. it is going to be sort of a vacation for me.
Regarding Vince, he is a great guy to talk to and to do business with, except that my lugage ended up quite heavy due to him...
Hey Elliott. Are you going to tellk us the price of that little pretty folder? I don't think so, right?
