Made it yesterday afternoon after more than 50 hours in transit. I'm lagged out and dragging but I'll start working on getting caught up.

A special thanks to all who prayed for us and wished us well. It worked.

Two days before we departed the Maoists blew up a road check stationg, killing 11 and putting more than 20 more into the hospital. They are very tough customers and I don't see a solution at present. More on this later.

I'm going to put up one pix today and I'll be putting us a steady flow of them every day so stay tuned.

In all, the trip was a huge success and certainly worthwhile.

Thanks Rusty and all who helped while I was away. Much appreciated.

Special thanks to Howard who once again took time to bring his family to the airport in Seattle to say hello. Great people!

More later.

Blessings from the computer shack in Reno!

I know there's another "Welcome back" thread, but I just want to say it again: WELCOME BACK Bill and Yangdu. Be sure to rest up before resuming your normal routine. Glad the Maoists didn't give you too much trouble.

Uncle Bill,

Hope your trip went well and you get a chance to sleep--50 hours, yikes! Anyway, you were missed and its nice to have you back in action.

Seriously, 50 hours is nuts. We can wait a bit longer.

We gotta about them Maoists later. The bad news is, they know exactly what can be done to defeat them - what YOU are doing right now with BirGhorka and what's being sorta plotted via microloans.

Bill's airline scheduled Bill for a surprise 29 hour layover in Seattle. Of course, I was elated, but Bill wasn't so keen on the idea after many hours of nonstop travel. A few quiet words from the soft spoken gent with the "faint odor of gunsmoke" and the airline promptly rerouted him through Portland to Reno.

Welcome back Bill. I'm glad to see you made it back to your home.

The kids had a great time meeting you and Yangdu. Gerard found his interview with Yangdu for his school report on Nepal to be eye-opening. My stories about the old days walking barefoot to school in the snow, uphill both ways, now have to take a backseat to the real-life experiences she shared with him.

Many thanks to Kami Sherpa for the khukuri rum. I haven't opened it yet. If the fates allow me to attend the gathering in August we will all have a bottle of rum to kill.

Howard, Yangdu and I want to express our sincere gratitude to you and family for going to the effort of meeting us at the airport in Seattle.

The title, "Sleepless in Seattle," had a new meaning yesterday after 50 hours of travel.

Forgive me for having been so lagged out and stressed out. Next time we meet I hope I am better company. My ulcers have returned.

Pala pointed you out in the pix board and told the kamis he had met you in Seattle. He also pointed out others who he had met. The kamis were mightily impressed.

You have a great family which did not surprise us in the least!

Wonderful to have you back, Uncle. And if you spent more time visiting the Temples and praying than seeing to business, you're the one who would know what took first priority. VEG - just tzn!!

Many thanks, boys. As I said and as the song goes, it's nice to go travellin' but it's oh so nice to be home.

After seeing how hard the kamis work I'm ashamed to let down at this end. Gotta keep pecking away.

Sigh (banging noises from head hitting desk)...dangit, I *knew* he was gonna say something like that.

Bill...Uncle...FRIEND...the last time I tried to work to somebody else's pace, I dang near killed myself. She was twice my age, a physical wreck, I should have been able to keep up, right? How was I to know she was on crank

? I still haven't recovered, my legs are retaining fluid two and a half *years* later and there's a funny little "hard spot" on one.

OK, that's an extreme case, but...still. That ulcer is a worry. You've got a lot of good people out here who aren't going to sweat it if you take a bit of a breather, and it ain't gonna hurt sales (same as: ain't gonna hurt the kamis, or Pala, etc).

Please
