It has been some time but I beat the financial bug. This is my newest creation and my first for many things. This is my first bowie (though a small one), first differentially heat treated blade, first hidden tang with threaded end nut, and my first knife built with my homemade 2x72!! It is stock removal 1095 with a triple edge quenched blade and a double temper. I did not etch to see the temper line but believe me it flowed beautifully down to the bottom of the ricasso in a nice smooth slightly curved but mostly straight line. Brass guard and pommel. Diamondwood handle (would have looked better with something else but I have several blocks I am trying to use up). 7" blade 12 1/4" overall. I did a brass rod deflection test on the edge and in 3 places down the blade the edge sprung back to straight. No chipping or bending. Then I whacked this brass rod about 6-7 good times and cut into it with no damage to the edge in any noticeable way. And it still shaved hair! Please tell me what you think. The pics are not the best but they are ok. Cory

Welcome back from wherever it was you've been. I checked out your site quickly. I like the originality of your designs.

I like the classic Bowie shape above real well. Looks to be well-balanced too. This is just my own personal opinion, but I have to admit that every time I see colored diamondwood scales that Pakistan is the first word that crosses my mind. I have seen some diamondwood blocks that use only wood, and no colors, and I like those. Then too, I'm Scottish, and would use up the supplies I had also.

Cory, you're rockin! You know I have that soft spot for bowies... That's a great blade, I really like the swell out toward the clip. The flats look perfect. You do good work. I'd sure like to see that temper line next time!

You keeping this one, or are you going to go ahead and send it to me?

Hey, you getting out of town this weekend?

Dave

Lets see if this works. If it does thanks Crayola. I meant I am back from a break. I had a financial crisis and I could not afford belts so I just took a break and kept designing. No Dave the inlaws are coming down this weekend. Sorry. Cory

Bugs, I agree with the diamondwood and after I was done I hurt cause I feel like it took some of the classicness away fromthe bowie. I like old west design and they did not use diamondwood in the 1800s. But like you said I had a few blocks and I am trying to get rid of them. Cory

Just save the dymondwood for kitchen knives or if someone asks for it,it isn't eating nothing setting around the shop.
