Im blown away by victorinox

Yeah, like Cascade_Mtn's mentioned, SAKs are so useful and omnipresent that no one seems to have a problem with them. Combined with the fact they have a ton of useful tools on them, everyone is okay with seeing and using one. Even friends of mine who are deathly afraid of my knives are willing to use my SAK.

Also, at least with a SAK, I can use it discretely for things, like using the scissors or the small blade to open packaging in public. As much as I would love to use my BM 520 Presidio given any chance :D, it might not be the most smart thing to do, especially with non-knife people around.

Finally, I want white scale SAKs over here, and I don't mean just the Classics. It seems like white scales are a Switzerland only deal, but they look suprisingly good. Not that the red is bad :D, but I like variety.

I am a believer in the humble sak. I carry one everyday. Often I have another knife in my pocket plus the sak. But I always have the sak.

I love SAKs. I feel naked if I don't have one in my pocket. Sometimes I even have a SAK in my pajamas pocket if I am lounging around.

It was mentioned before in this thread: the combination of a well-selected SAK and a fixed blade is perfect for most kinds of holiday. On my latest trip, I put one of the one-hand opening SAKs and the Izula 2 in my daypack.
For EDC during working days I carry my alox soldier more than any other knife, as it's practical and not scary.

I just finished repairing my @ 30 yo Officier Camper. The only problems I've had were a lost toothpick, a broken spring on the scissors, and I broke the tip off of the small blade. This is my highest use knife and I have used every tool on it. Even with the steel being a little soft I should get decades more use out of it.

They seem to be one of the few mainstream knife companies that have stayed true to their intent. Great quality at a great price. Even their cheaper models go above and beyond. I would say that everybody should own at least one of their knives. I do.

Like a lot of you I also got a SAK when I was a kid, a Huntsman, it was also my first knife and I still carry SAKs. For EDC they're excellent pocket knives and a great addition to outdoor gear. High quality and inexpensive.

I got some old Dutch army knives made by Victorinox too, the oldest one is from 1985. Some of them we're heavily used by their previous owners, but after a bit of cleaning, sharpening and oiling, they're just as good as my own old Soldier from 2002. The only sign of their age is the wear on the scales.

Victorinox' quality has been consistent over the years, that I've taken it for granted. Great pocket knives.

No matter where the search for the next "perfect" knife takes me, I always have at least one Vic SAK on me at all times - 7 days a week. Many knives have frequented my front pocket, but my Vic Climber always rides next to my wallet in my RR pocket.

There really is no good reason to not have one - the value and utility is tremendous. They deliver very consistent quality.

I too,no matter what other knife I have on me,carry a Vic SAK on my person 7 days a week.I havy many different SAKs,but usually carry my Climber or Huntsman in a small belt sheath.Plus I always have my Classic and Rambler on me keychain.Yeah,I think Vic SAKs are some of the greatest knives ever made!!

I have found the SAK Tinker model to be the all around most useful knife for daily carry. If I go on a hunt where I need a different knife to clean, skin game or to do camp chores I still carry the SAK.
I notice that I have at least three so that I can have one in car and truck, rucksacks, and pocket carry also.

Regards,
Jerry

SAKs are ok I guess. :-)

Seriously though, They're some of my favorite knives for many of the reasons already stated here. They're small, neat, very versatile little tools. I've been EDCing one off and on since the early 80s. I can't remember what model it was but my first one was a special run (can't remember if it was from Victorinox or Wenger) with green scales and the Heineken logo stamped on it. I lost it somewhere along the the way.

My Victorinox Cadet made me stop collecting pocket knives. I don't see a point in carrying any other knife over that one. I use the screw drivers more then the knife itself.

just ordered an alox solo and a minichamp to complement it :D
those will be a nice addition to my farmer and alox soldiers, but i still need more, like a pioneer...well , next time :D

I carried this in my pocket for years...
