I recently sent an email to BOS Services Here is the full text of my email:

Can you harden 154CM/CPM154 to 62+ RC?

Thank you.

Andy

Here is their reply:

No, we dont do any hardening.

I am confused. I thought hardening was part of heat treating. I don't want to bother BOS with any more questions, because I am just a hobbyist.

Is hardening part of heat treating, or is it a separate thing?

Thanks.

Are you sure you're not confusing them with Paul Bos Heat Treating? They still look like a heat treater but are not the same place most of us talk about when we say Bos heat treating.

Aha! I was interacting with the wrong company. Bos Heat Treating is part of Buck, in Post Falls, Idaho.

BOS Systems, of Willoughby, Ohio, is something entirely different; looks like some kind of industrial service, not for cutlery. Let me see if I can delete my thread now.
