I'm done with folders.....Multitools are the way to go.

So Matt, how's it going with switching to the MT? No posts from you since #1 here....

I wonder if you switched back?

So far so good Thanks for asking! I had to wait an extra week for them to ship out the pocket clip so I didn't carry it until I received it. But I'm digging it and I don't miss a dedicated folder yet. I will admit I did EDC an ESEE 3MIL a few days, but ya know ;).

The fit and finish were pretty good. I have to pick up some lock tight since the pivot spins and gets tighter when opening the outside blades. Other than that it's all good. I noticed LM added a few tweaks since I had my older one. Now it has bronze washers and a slanted lock face.

You know the saying, "Two is one and one is none". Always good to have a back up, and a back up for your back up. It may mean your life someday.

Funny this topic; I carried a MT often and started collecting knives later.
I haven't ever tried a SAK since a MT also fulfills my wire cutter/plier requirement.

Discrete knives are more convenient to me, since both my ol' Gerber and Leatherman don't have quick deployment.
I started liking them for comfort and less dead weight, leading to better control.

Now that I'm invested in knives, I want to make the most of them before ever retiring any from use.
If anything, my EDC has gained bulk. It will be a while before I trim it down after realizing what I don't use.

I carry a folder or slippie, and a multi or sak at all times. So I always have at least two on me. I just love all of them so why not? Here lately I've been carrying a spydie and my leatherman sideclip with a sak close by for scissors.

THIS!! :)
The Wave is a fantastic tool, but I like a slippy or Spydee to help out on the box cutting , package opening..that sort. I use the knife on my Wave only once in a while..I use the serrated blade more, and the pliers and screw drivers all the time..even the scissors a bunch. The saw is great, and the file has helped me out on a couple of occasions. Man, I love multi tools.

I tried it back in the days when I had a Leatherman Charge Ti . Worked OK , just that multi's don't do more advanced folder tasks that well .Their handling qualities are all wrong ( for me ) . Their locks tend to be light duty stainless liners , in which I have little faith .

I might try again someday , but for now I just appreciate that my Multi is a handy spare/dirty job blade .
