The subject line says it all. I'm first!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is you favorite Hawk or ax and what do you use it for?
Lets not forget to thank Spark.

Bobby :p :p :p :p :p

I'm pretty new to the hawk scene.
I only have an "H&B Forge Seneca Hawk",
but I think it needs some company soon. ;)
I've only used it for throwing so far.
Next time I'm in the woods I want to see how it
handles "honest work".

I don't have a hawk yet. I have been keeping ATC in mind and trying to figure out which model I liked the most. Then that bastid Prisco posted the pics of your new Ranger Hawk, and I found the one that must be my first. I figure by x-mas I'll have the $$ to send for my first hawk. I threw my first knife a few days ago, a CS Bushman at a food pile. I LOVE IT! Bobby, I thought I'd practice with the Bushman before I chuck the Pro #12 that you made and sent to me that I won on the throwing forum.

By the way, the new Ranger Hawk has been my wallpaper since I firsed clicked onto that thread. It is calling to me.....

I really like the utility Viking axes. Not the hugungous D&D double bladed Conan types. Just a working Norse profile blade with a small flat for hammering on the back. I used to see bunches from several US blacksmiths back in the '90's, but now the only thing I can find are from Atlanta Cutlery's "factory" in India.

Not really into hawks, but who could pass up the chance to participate in the 1st thread!:D Anyway, my personal favorite chopping implement is the Firestone Belt Axe. Although rather expensive, MSRP 149.95, this axe can handle any chores I may have around the camp. It is also a very attractive piece.

Just had to throw in my .02

Hoplophile,
H&B Forge has a viking axe which is a little scary looking.
They also have a camp axe that might be more practical.
Their quality is good. Prices are excellent.

Well, I'm not sure....

I recently got a box in the mail from some guy named Branton and it contained a wicked lookin' spike hawk. Used that to scare off annoying neighbors. I really like it. Sharp as hell (especially since I reground the edges :D)

My other hawk (a Longhunter made by Two Hawks) is currently in the posession of a Mr. Prisco. Last time I saw it he was running down a crowded street chopping things... :) If I remember correctly, I really like that one too ;) Very well made, lightweight poll-hawk - great for camp use and easy to carry.

I've been competing in hawk and knife competitions at rendezvous for about 8 years. The best hawk made, bar none, is the competition hawk made by "Two Hawks" in Montana. If you want quality, he's the best!

For axes, I've got a bunch of the Gransfors Bruks and really like them. The Scandinavian Forest Ax is probably the most versatile. They also make an excellent splitting wedge---the only one I've ever seen that will shave hair off your arm with the factory edge.

My favorites are the only two I have so far. The awesome Rogers Rangers Spike Hawk and the LaGana Vietnam Tomahawk both by ATC. The genius of the Vietnam Hawks design reveals itself to you slowly the more you handle it. Its a CQB weapon not a thrower. What a masterful design. Love the RR spike as well. What's next....maybe something traditional by Two Hawks.

I just bought my first hawk from ATC- a Lagana Vietnam hawk. It's a real beauty! I like all spike hawks; the deadlier, the better. This one has the armor piercing grind; it's light, strong, and made for combat. Next, I'll get a Ranger spike from ATC and/or a spike from RMJ Forge. Eventually, I'll get a spontoon.

Thanks to all for getting this forum set up.

Right now I have two hawks, one is LongHunter and the other is Competition, both are made by TwoHawks.
I'm a cityman so don't have many opportunities to use my hawks for heavy wood chopping, but I throw my Competition everyday since I got it few weeks ago.

The feeling is great when I can let the hawk stick.
But I need more practice though. :)

Also I'll have one Paul Hatchet from Busse and one ATC hawk very soon. I'm a rookie for hawk but I think I love it.

Here has a piture for my two hawks.

And this one is a closer shot of the LongHunter I have.
I had chopped wood with this hawk.

Just one right now the ATC RR Spike, really like this hawk.but now find myself drooling over the ATC next generation spike and two hawk's Longhunter!great now I'm going to be even more broke than I was befor!:D

I don't own one, but Steve Ryan has a really nasty/radical looking hawk. If you check out the Ryan Model 1 pics posted on the Emerson Forum, you'll know what I mean. I'll try to get a photo from him.

I've spent a lot of money on hawks in the past, I currently have about a dozen. I've given away my share to beginner's to get them started. Absolutely the best 'hawks that I have are by Two Hawks. I won't let anyone throw them. I must admit that I am particularly selfish regarding my Competition Hawks. For my money, you can't go wrong with Two Hawks products, they are the best I've seen or handled. His service is also very top notch. I thoroughly enjoyed doing business with Two Hawks.
