I'm gonna try to carry nothing but traditional slipjoints for a couple weeks.

I still combo up every once in a while. I will carry a clip with a traditional when I hike and fish or hunt

I carry both a traditional and a "modern" folder. Right now I have a lanny clip in the right pocket and a small sebenza in my left. Traditionals are great out in public knives and are addictive! I got one in a trade and decided to try it out..... That was about 15 ago!!
In reference to what happened today- if wearing slick pants or shorts a simple velvet pouch keeps your knife where it belongs

Thanks for the tip maybe I'll even find myself a nice leather pouch.

It's a strange transition at first, but it's quite hard (for me) to revert back to carrying modern folders. You'll find the blade profiles of most traditional folders, to be more suited to certain tasks, than more modern ones. If it makes any sense. If you're really concerned about deploying a blade quickly, just find a miniscule fixed blade, that's under the legal restrictions of your area, to carry. Quicker than any folder, and there's a ton of traditional and modern, neck, and belt models to choose from. Small EDC worthy fixed blades along with slipjoints and traditional pocket knives decreased my interest in modern OHO folders.

Just don't get into custom slip joints - you will really be in trouble....:D

Some of those are so beautiful, you spend hundreds of dollars on them and then not use them.....

I work in an office so I can't carry a clipped folder during the day. I've found a small slipjoint does everything I need at work, including opening boxes and mail and stripping wire. After work I carry at least two depending on what I'm wearing. Some cargo shorts have extra pockets that just need to be filled up with a knife :D
Yesterday I had a clipped folder on one pocket, a slipjoint in the pocket, a lockback in another pocket, and my Swiss Army Huntsman on my belt.

My wife thinks I'm crazy...

I work in an office and carry my Remington peanut. Anything more is a waste of pocket space. Once I get out, my Charlow goes in my pocket. I carry a larger one hand opener but find that I use my 73 or Tribal Spear instead. If I need a bigger knife I go for my modified Kephart EDC that Scott Gossman made for me. I've been thinking about leaving the 1n$1ng0 at home. I got rid of all my one hand openers except the CRKs and two BMs that I had to get the edges saved. Oh yeah a Bali from Oregon too.

Maybe I haven't been saved from the one handed wonder affliction...

I also cut the acre backyard today in gym shorts with my Charlow in my pocket. Rode snug and had no issues.

Does anyone else carry a 3.5 inch closed or smaller knife daily? I'm carrying a trapper and would like to now try an even smaller blade to edc. The peanuts are looking like a good size for most everyday things. How is the peanut at cutting fruit?

3.5" is a great size. I have a Queen mini trapper and GEC #85 that I rotate between.

Lots of people carry 3 1/2" closed or smaller knives daily. My personal preference is for knives in the 3 1/2" to 3 3/4" range.

I suppose you could use a peanut for fruit slicing, especially strawberries and grapes! :D

I carry a separate dedicated fruit slicer (Case stainless steel single blade Slimline Trapper) in my work bag for apple duties. It's long enough and thin enough to make that first halving cut without having to go around the the apple several times.

I carried pocket knives for a couple of decades before an option to use a pocket clip version existed. Did all sorts of things while carrying a stockman. construction electrician, truck driver, factory work. I never felt like I didn't have a tool which would do the job I needed done.

The stockman I carried all those years was a Camillus-made Buck 303, which is 3 1/4" closed length. I never had a cutting need it could not satisfy.

The trapper works great on fruit and cheese, its what I use while at work for cutting peaches and such! I'm thinking of keeping the trapper maybe at work and a smaller mini trapper or peanut on me that is easy to throw into a front pocket.

IMO the peanut is too small for fruit. You can make it work but in my experience 3.5 inches or more is more of a fruit cutter. Smaller than that I find the fruit juices get into the pivot which is annoying. Totally doable but I cut fruit on most days and prefer a larger blade.
