I'm haunted by an all black Manix 2

A all black spyderco to me looks like something batman would carry. Especially an all black pm2 or military. When folded I can picture it.

I bought my blacked out Para, during the 'Dark Days' when any PM2 was a hard find. I was excited about the platform, but not the color scheme...partially because of the 'Mall Ninja' association, partially because I had too many black knives. I was dying for more color variety. As I began to use the blade, my opinion dropped further due to the way the DLC started to splotch and 'discolor'. I'm a recovering knit-picker, what can I say? But one day out of the blue, for no reason that I can recall, I started thinking of the wear and markings as "character". And, I thought, 'I bet that would look killer with a mirror-ish edge on the EP' so that's what happen. Haven't looked back since. Awesome blade. I may swap scales at some point in the future, but its not urgent. :D

Resurrecting this thread because, finally, I have an all black manix 2 headed my way! Haha. I thought I'd dig up this thread as a celebration. It took a while but I finally worked out a trade! Thanks for all the help and encouragement everyone (even if it was almost a year ago).

Hang in there...rumor has it that there will be a raffle benefitting cancer research that features a pimped out black Manix 2 and a pimped out Gayle Bradley 2...stay tuned for more details!

Mine was a DLC Szabo. The blade was so stiff it hurt my calloused thumbs to open it.

Spyderco bent over backwards to give me an exchange option, that I love. However everytime I see a Szabo in the Exchange I have to fight my impulses to buy it, til I see it sold. Ugh

What are you waiting for, brother?

I didn't realize they'd done a coated LW. Might have to pick one up.

I'll second the Vallotton mentioned earlier. I love the look and the feel of the knife. I've handled one and absolutely adored it, but I know I won't carry it due to the weight and I try to stay away from buying knives that just ride the desk.

In addition, I don't really like black blades. I've heard people call them "mall ninja" here and I kind of agree (just my opinion). I feel like maybe they look a little too aggressive for me.

Who cares what others think, buy what you like. Black Manix is in the plans for me : )

Congrats, nice knife. I remember this thread from last year and I'm glad to see the haunting has been exorcised. From staring at the darkness however I feel an urge for possession coming on.

Glad that the urge for possession is contagious! An urge for an all black manix? Or are you haunted by something else?

I've been eyeballing the blacked out model in BD1. I've never tried that steel and I've already got a G10 Manix in 154CM. Something about how sinister the Manix looks black on black...

I know, right? I think it looks half sinister and half classy. Almost like it's wearing a tuxedo. I say go for it!

I've always liked Spydercos DLC blades, especially the Para2. Hope they do a Blk/Blk Para3.

Never owned a Manix, but it's a good looking blade in DLC.

Glad you finally pulled the trigger, Vermont! The blacked out Manix is pretty much the best Spydie ever! :)

So I went to the dark side...I had a lightweight black Manix 2 in my cart on Amazon prime. I went to eBay to check and see if there were any better deals available before I pulled the trigger then I started to wander.

Then I saw it, a grail of mine for literally just a few dollars more than the Manix in my cart. It was just listed, never used and too good of a deal to pass up.

I really wanted one in M390, but based on what I've read CTS 204P is virtually identical. Alas, the manix will have to wait. The 0562cf will be my edc with my Dragonfly ZDP 189 reserved for when I need a lighter/smaller knife.
