I'm Having a Beers From Around The World Party....

I highly suggest you get a bottle of Lindemans Cuvee Rene for this tasting. Not sure if you are familiar with the gueuze/lambic style (not sweetened like Lindemans Framboise) but it is far different from everything else suggested and has layers upon layers of flavor. At first you may think it smells and tastes like vomit but it will grow on you. A lot of gueuze can be hard to find but the Cuvee Rene is everywhere and superior to many other options IMO.

Here is a link to the beer, and the style:

I've always wanted to venture out of my normal Bud Light choice. I go into Andersons Market and they have sooo many different types of beer. I think the reason I haven't tried it yet is that the amount that is there is overwhelming! Plus I don't know where to start as far as taste goes. LOL Maybe someone can give me a couple tips when choosing the right beer?

Depends, what sort of tastes do you like?

Typically - and there shades of gray here, of course - you'll be choosing between a malt taste or a hops taste. Malty beers have a strong body and "thick" taste to them. Hoppy beers have a bitter taste up front with a crisp finish.

If you're looking to branch out, the pick 6 option that a lot of grocery or liquor stores offer is a good way to do it. It's an affordable way to try out some new beer without having to spring for a whole six pack without knowing if you like it yet or not.

Hey Pokey, I would recommend a good Hefeweizen. Like Weihenstaphaner, Franziskaner or just a simple Blue Moon. Gets you away from that Awful Bud stuff. It won't be to far out of your taste pallet comfort zone. Make yourself try the first 2. The more you try "good" beer the more you will "enjoy" it. Not just order bad beer just to drink something. You will start to notice a difference.
It's like always having a Pleather purse. Then having a nice Coach bag. There is a big difference but you won't realize it until you feel the quality of a nice hand bag. From the "Hefe" you can branch out to others. Also try the Lambic Framboise. It doesn't even taste like beer. it's like an effervescent raspberry drink. I believe Beer is like life, You don't want to just enjoy the length of it, you should enjoy the width as well.
Cheers!

Speaking of Hefeweizen (or at least wheat beer), I thought Shock Top was a not bad interpretation a Belgian White, even if it is just Anheuser-Busch pretending to be a microbrewer. But then, I thought Shiner Bock is a not bad interpretation of a bock beer, so what do I know.

I doubt you can get it Stateside however James Squire's 150 Lashes Pale Ale from Australia is absolutely delicious!

i like weihenstephaner original lager, there's also Xingu from Brazil which is a nice dark beer.
