From what Ive heard about that surgery, its very well worth it. And try not to criticise the scalpels - this is the one time when surgical steel is a meaningful term ;)
All the best with it mate.

Thanks everyone.

Tomorrow's the big day!I'll try & log on afterwards & let everyone know I'm okay.I can't promise anything though.

Good news!!

Hang in there!

best

After going thru possibly the worst night in my 44 years on this earth,I'm doing a little better now. When that nerve block wore off I could not believe the pain.I was up & down all night.Pacing back & forth & switching between my bed & recliner. There was no tolerable position.
Esav,I have a newfound respect for you & your pain tolerance. It literally felt like my arm was torn off & reattached. The pain is deep within the joint & the bone & it is constant.
I'm really not fishing for sympathy.I'm just trying to relay my experience the best I can.I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy.
I eventually came up with a tolerable pill cocktail that helps with the pain, without uncomfortably slowing my breathing & heartbeat.

I feel much better this morning.I'm going to rest up some more, since I only got about a broken 2-3 hours sleep.I know you do the majority of your healing while asleep,so I'm going to try & do that.

Thanks again everyone for listening.

Sorry my Swedish friend. There wasn't one looker in the bunch. However they were some of the most professional, courteous & friendly staff I have ever had the honor to meet.

I tore my knee out a couple years ago and had to have it reconstructed. I really wasn't too worried about the pain after the surgery because I didn't think it would hurt as bad as the actually knee injury itself but boy was I wrong! I went through the same thing it sounds like you did as far as not being able to sleep because the pain was so severe. Even when I did have to get up to go to the bathroom or whatever it was a huge hassle and then it would start the aching and pain all over again to an almost unbearable level. I hate pain pills though and only took them for 2 days then stopped as I hated how they made me feel. I was very unprepared for the depression that set in after the surgery as well. Just not being able to do anything and being in constant pain it really was a horrible experience. Plus I was still a bachelor at the time so zero help. I now have cadaver parts holding my knee together and it still hurts from time to time but at least I don't have to wear a brace I guess.... I hope you make a speedy recovery, keep your head up!

Thanks again guys,I'm feeling better everyday :02.47-tranquillity:

Good to hear J. I have a slightly torn RC myself, I've developed a bit of tendonitis as a result. I too was going to go under the knife, but changed my mind.

Yea,The only reason I did it was because I lost about half my strength in that shoulder, there was a constant, nagging pain & there was the possibility of it getting worse thru the years. My right shoulder is going in the same direction as my left, but I am going to take it easy on it.I really don't want to go thru this again.Getting older sucks :grumpy:
