I was in the market for a new EDC knife, I walk to work every morning, 20 blocks, usually leaving before the sun comes up.. living in a fairly well-populated metropolitan area, it's not too uncommon to hear about muggings and people being killed just by being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I wasn't (and still am not) in the market for an instrument of pain and death.. I was looking for something practical enough to use for everyday, mundane tasks but also "wow" enough to make any would be attackers think twice about who they were messing with.

Anyhow, I foraged online for an easy to open pocket folder, long story short- I wound up purchasing a Tanto Blur.
I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I snapped the blade open. Simply amazing! It was my first experience with any sort of assisted opening blade, and it was truly awe inspiring!

After unintentionally frightening a few of my friends (not thinking, just opening my knife to open a box, cut a zip tie, etc.), I decided I should probably invest in something a little less intimidating..

Which led me to my next purchase- a black Leek 1660CKT.
And I can't really tell you which of the two gets more startled reactions. The Blur for it's fierceness, and the Leek for it's stabby profile.

My next purchase will most likely be a Shallot. Not sure if I want to keep up the DLC coated trend or not, I may buy another Blur (non-Tanto), decisions, decisions.

Guess I should start looking for a second job as well.. :grumpy:

Thanks! You're right.. I've got my eyes on too many Kershaws to count.

Welcome to BF and the Kershaw forums!! You're gonna like it here, alot of great guys to help you out should you have any questions or need any help with anything. Just be on the lookout for the "Kershaw Mafia". Some say they don't exist., but I don't believe it! haha!!

Elarski pretty much summed it up.., Kershaw knives can quickly become an addiction, sounds like you're already in too deep to back out, haha!! but honestly though if you're gonna get hooked on collecting knives Kershaw is a great brand to get addicted to., great quality in every Kershaw I've owned and(should you ever need it) their Customer Service is second to none!

they are real. unless you're a cop, in which case, ive got no idea what you are talking about.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.. :D

I guess there are worse things to be addicted to (I'll keep telling myself that as my savings fund slowly turns into Kershaw steel).

I've only seen this "Kershaw Mafia" whilst scouring through all of the older posts, soaking up knowledge, but as of right this second I'll place them in the "urban myth" category. ;)
