Hey guys, pretty new to this forum.

I just purchased a lg. Sebenza 21 last week. Im having a little buyers remorse thinking maybe the Small 21 would have been a better option.
Im used to fairly smaller EDC knives. I currently have a 940 and sage 2. Now i love the knife, don't get me wrong, but maybe I'm just not used to the size of it.

Do i exchange it for a small sebenza?

Another option, Keep it, and sell my 940 and sage 2 and use that money towards a small seb!?
Note: i'd probably grab the Small insigno, not that it helps my decision.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I fear i've gone down the Sebenza rabbit hole and theres not way out!!

I would say wait, carry your Sebenza and see how you like it.

I bought a very beautiful small Sebenza and then found I did not carry it as much because I just prefer a little larger knife.

You may well decide at some point in the future that you want to get a small Sebenza, and at that time it will be no problem to sell your large if you take reasonable care to keep it nice.

Congratulations - you chose a great knife!

Welcome to BFC!!!!!
The small sebenza is a great piece, the key phrase you mentioned is that you're not use to carrying a larger knife. Right now it feels intimidating because it is in comparison quite larger than what you're use to. But, carry it for a while and you'll soon realize it's not that much bigger.
I started out with a large then got a small. I carry the large more than the small.

I started with the Large Regular, moved to small because of my co workers aversion to knives, changed jobs, carried the Umnumzaan for years. It felt a touch too big for a week or so but became quite comfortable very quickly.
I'm about 10 years into carrying crk's 99 out of 100 days and even though I carry the smalls here and there they just feel too small now. I've never ran into a job the small couldn't do and crk's are much more hard use than people give them credit for but once you get used to their "Large" size knife you may not want a small.

Collection wise, you've already shelled out the cash for a large, if you use it for a while and don't like it you could always sell it for more than a small will cost you. If you exchange and find that you liked the large better you may end up coughing up the cash and keeping both- most of us have; 12 or 30 times over by now 😃

No matter what you decide I hope that you really use and enjoy it, they truly are great knives that just get better with use.

Well, if you're asking me what I'd do, I'd sell or return the Seb and buy 2-4 knives that I like better. That said, you may get better answers in the CRK subforum. The people there know their stuff.

Thanks for the replies.
I think it will just take some getting used to (size wise).
A lot of guys have mentioned they carry the small partly because of there work environment, and a small knife being more accepted and less threatening, which makes sense. I am a carpenter, so this shouldn't be an issue on the job site vs an office environment.

Insipid Moniker, i wasn't really sure where to post this, but your probably right, i'll scout out more appropriate subforms for next time!

I must be the only guy, but I did not like the Sebanza.
I only ordered the small one, and just didnt like it.
Maybe after a couple of years of knife collecting/using i can figure it out.
But for now, I dont know what the fuss is about.
Sold it, and ordered a ZT and Emerson.

I have a Small Insingo, and I like it. It makes for a good, small, discrete carry. It is smaller than the 940 and Sage2. A couple others that might be worth a look, if you're considering a small'ish Ti framelock, are the 0450 or 0808. The 0450 is slim & sleek, like the 940. The 0808 is similar in length, but a bit beefier. Both are in-between the size of the 940 and Sage2.

I don't have a large Seb, but spec-wise, it seems somewhat close to the Umnumzaan. Here are a couple of shots with the Zaan, Small Insingo, and the others mentioned.

I have a large and a small sebenza . I like the small one better that said I have never EDC the large for a straight month I feel that it's to big . The small one is just perfect for my needs and it's in my daily mix of EDC knives. . That said I'm not I huge CRK fan and I prefer other knives when EDC a bigger knife .

This isn't at all the wrong place to post it, it's just that you're also gonna get replies from folks like myself and showtime420 who aren't particularly impressed with the CRK here. From the tone of your post I'm guessing fans of the brand would help you out more than we would in terms of what to do. For the sake of full disclosure, I find the Large Sebenza a bit too small for my taste. ;)

Flarp, thanks for the pics.
Seems as though everyone has different opinions and tastes.
I think for an all around general purpose knife, the large seb is probably the way to go from what i've read. But a lot of guys have said the small seb is great for edc and will basically do everything the large will.
I guess at that point it comes down to whats more comfortable. I don't have huge hands, i wear a medium size glove. I feel the 940 fits my hand really well.
I've heard its a lot smaller in person than it appears in pics though.

Its a tough choice.

This is a nice dilemma!

I'd suggest keeping the Large 21; you'd probably just want it back someday.

In terms of selling the Sage and 940; I'd be against that too. Both are great, iconic knives that are perhaps the best representations of their respective classes. If you enjoy carrying them, you'll probably end up missing them.

I have a small, CF 21 and a Star-Tac Zaan and I find there are appropriate times for each size. Consider looking on the exchange for a small 21. I've done a fair bit of business on the exchange and always had a good experience. Also, if you're looking for really small and pocket friendly, take a look at the new Inkosi.

What I would NOT do is sell off my other knives. The CRK honeymoon may very well end, and then well, all your other knives are gone unless you sell and start over. If you can afford it, buy a used small 21 to see if you like it, then sell either as necessary. I've borderline reached the point where the expensive folders aren't worth it to me and considering selling them off. I almost made the very bad decision once of selling off several of my good folders so I could enjoy my higher end stuff more, but so glad I didn't. Everyone's different though so YMMV.

I'd try it in your pocket for a bit and see how you like it. I carry a 4" ZT most days, and I have really grown attached to it.

If your not happy with it, selling your other knives won't make you more happy with it.

If you like the 940, then you will love the small sebenza. I have a small insingo and rotate it with my 940. I have a large sebenza, but it is a little large for EDC... at least for me

Initial impressions often change the more you carry a knife. I had one knife in particular that I hated at first, but have since gotten to where I really like it. Unless you are 100% sure you aren't going to want to keep it, I'd suggest carrying it for a bit, then see what you think.

I've got to agree with what quite a few of the others have said on here. Give it a few weeks. It took me a bit to get used to carrying the Umnumzaan, but you'll never regret having the larger blade. Plus neither of the Sebenzas take up that much pocket space compared to other large offerings.

Keep it. Stick it in your waistband at 4:00 and you will forget about it. I carry a Spyderco Slysz Bowie which is a larger knife and don't notice it.

Then go get the smaller one too.

Agreed. I've had both and I got rid of the small one because it was too... small. Give the large 21 a few days in the pocket and you'll forget it's there. EDC perfection, or as close to it as I've found.
