Damn, I was handling the knives I got yesterday before packing them.
Damn damn damn...even if they were some minors problems on those blades there is something special about those blades. A kind of soul in them. Much more appeling than any other knives...
I found out that for me the AK 15" is the perfect size and I really have to get one! I can imagine one of those with a modified taped sheath on my harness :D
Somebody told me once:"this blades will talk to you"... he was damn right!
Now I'm in "mode hunting on" for and AK 15" !!!! :) :) :)
I still love my old used BAS... but the AK 15" just fit me better :D

yeah the AK is good I prefer the 18" wwII
its the perfect blend of tool and weapon it really sings in the hand and is adaptable to many fighting styles weapon. bando , kali , dao (Chinese saber ) per sev hooks traps draw cuts chops thrust just does every thing and well cut wood too

I like my WW2, though the more I handle them the more I lean towards the AK, one is very multi purpose whilst the other is a wacking great big chopper, ahhh decisions!

Weigh the AK and look to see who made it so you know what to look for.

I'm glad you like them.

I live in the city and was used to perfectly straight lines and smooth surfaces on things and on knives. Initially I didn't like my first khukuri because some of the lines on it weren't perfectly parallel and the handle wasn't perfectly centered. Things changed after playing around with it for a couple of days and chopping a few things. Now I own more than one.

:D

Great- now the truth comes out- the secret life of Bruise. Here's a guy who is off the wall, but at home he wanted all the lines straight....

Actually, there isn't a khuk I own that at some point I don't look over and find something 'wrong'. It's part of the mental illness of living.

I know what you mean, Munk. I have a little 12" siru that Amtrak made and the edge wavers a bit to the side. It bugged me for the longest time. Then i saw a picture of my great-great uncle when he was young. He was a bare-knuckle boxer and his nose was knocked almost on the other side of his face where he could nearly smell his earlobe. he was mean little mamajamma standing just over 5' from what i hear. I've learned that things can be "crooked", "undersized", and yet tough as hell.

Thanx
Jake

my amtrak 12" ak is pretty close to being perfect
amtrak has exceptionally clean lines, in the handle, in the scroll/egraving work, and in the overal flow of the knife... the 12 ak handle fits my hand like a tailor fitted glove :D

Oliver,

I’ll look and see if I have a 15” AK w/wood handle. If so then I’ll bring it on over. Don’t have time to re-profile the edge, etc. I’ll also see about bringing some PVC pipe (we can find a heat gun over there) and make an impromptu sheath.

Thus doth it begin.......

We need a HIKV icon.

Oliver?

My most favored is my first HI khuk: a Bura 15 in AK. It, as you say, speaks to me. The 12 in is more convenient most often, but if I could only have one, it would be the 15. I understand. You are in love.

Oliver, the first blade for me was the BAS. Here's a cliche- it was real. It had identity.

I'm looking at a computer screen, there's a metal drawer on the right, car keys, a hat, an empty coffee mug, and lots of boxes and papers. If everything around the desk winked away and was replaced moments later, I wouldn't notice. When I get another computer I won't really notice much. It's just another computer. But whatever khukuri I place beside the screen I know. And the wooden Cross atop the monitor that Pappy made.

Do you mean 12" OAL or 12" blade length?

If you need it for deployment I will dig through my "stuff" and see what I have.

It's 12" OAL :D the blade is around 7" I think! very handy! it's truly alive! :) :) :)

I have a 13 " OAL 8" blade you can have for deployment. Check your email

Oliver;
What size would you say your hands are?

I'm average and the 12"ers are sometimes too small in the handle for me.

One fix is to grind off the points of the buttcap.
