Last night my Inova X1 crapped out. Don't know how or why. I thought it was the batteries but after changing them 6 times I figured something else was going on. I emailed Inova CS. Hopefully I will hear back from them sometime today. Despite how cheap they are to buy the thought of it dying on me like that really irks me. :grumpy:

Wow, it just died huh ? Sorry to hear that. I have an X1 myself, and I hope it doesnt die on me like that. Let us know what Inova tells you.

Charlie, which switch, the momentary button? Make sure you have the tailcap screwed in far enough.

Esav...the momentary switch is the culprit. I have a small scratch on the tailcap and barrel to where the optimum place for the switch to work used to be. Maybe its just wear and tear...I use the light a LOT!

My inova crapped out last year, 19hrs on the batts and it quit. New batts barely powered the led's...

tried 5 different sets of batts and the same thing. it sat until this summer when I got it sent in finally(was waiting for a reply, finally got one after a dozen attempts). Had to pay shipping, got it replaced.

Running (about) 34-35hrs now, starting to get dim enough to almost need new batts.

For anyone who has X1 problems or with any light in their line you can just send the light in. Contact Laurie via email to let her know that you are sending it in for replacement. Here is the contact info.

Mine is going out tomorrow and a replacement will be going out the day they get the old one.

I sent a X5 back to Inova a couple of months ago for a "momentary on" switch problem and got great service. They immediately gave me a new light. The brochure that came with the flashlight said that you should include $5 if you send it back to cover return shipping, but I didn't do that and they didn't seem to mind.

Just received a "24/7" light, haven't turned it on yet, even. It's great to have this time-saving resource here in case the little baloon goes up! Hope I never use it!

Thanks for posting that info.

My X5 momentary on switch works about 10 percent of the time. I want my light fixed, but I don't care how good the customer service is at Inova. I don't think that I should ever have to use it. I bought this light for emergency breakdown situations while driving my car an hour and a half to work. I drive through the mountains near Charlottesville Virginia. I had a breakdown in the middle of nowhere and had to rely on a 5 year old photon.
Thank God for Photon!!!!!!

I've been wanting to buy an X1 for a year now but since buying my Surefire E1e with the new style KL1, I haven't felt the need to buy anything new (at least light wise!).

Interesting--I emailed Inova months ago after my X1 arrived DOA and never got any response so I just threw it on the side. I guess I'd better go dig around for it and shoot another email over there.

I can understand being upset with Inova. I tried emailing them about my X5 problem, but got no response, so I just sent my light in. The new flashlight that I got back worked a lot better than my old one, but I sold it off right away. You have to press hard on the tail-cap, and keep constant pressure on it, to get the light to stay on without flickering.

There is a fix to the flickering problem that you have. I had the same thing, but I saw some instructions on CPF where they said that you should drag a razor blade along the very end of the body in case any anodization accidently got there and is making bad electrical contact. Also clean all the contacts with rubbing alcohol and you should be good to go. It worked for me. Now just a light press will turn on the momentary on, it's as good as my XO3 and my Surefire G2.

Mine has a little contact disc in the clicky end. I don't think I could even get an exacto in there. It looks like it is supposed to press down on the batteries and contact the end of the main body. Mine does look like it has anodization on the end of the body. Is that where you are talking about? Anyway, my contact disc has a wear mark about 25% of the way around. It feels like it is binding up and will NOT work.
Now that I cleaned it, it does work better. Thanks for the advice.

PS. I used the number in the above post and Inova said to send my X5 back and they would replace it.

James,
Sorry, I understand. I was writing that last post while I was looking at my X5. I couldn't read your post at the time. When I read your post I thought you meant scrape the inside of the body around the clicky switch. After I posted my reply I reread your post. Makes sence now. Mine works better but still binds up.
Thanks,
Mike Morris

Surefire products have always served me well. I live fairly close to the factory so if I need anything I just run over and pick up parts. Only needed to once and they were very nice.

My Inova X5T has never let me down once(knock on wood). I've had it for two years and althought it just sits around most of the year, it comes camping with me during my summers where its used every time i need light/ something to hit stuff with/ a projectile to throw at one of my jackass friends :D

The one downside to me would be the cost of those damn CR123 cells but compared to what some surefire users use, i'm not complaining. :)

Try buy online. Batterystation.com sells 123A's for 1.25 (not including shipping), and you're supposed to be able to get a discount if you are a member of CPF.
