Something that cuts, not just a wall hanger.
Want to be able to cut a pig

Chased this oinker down. Well...., the dogs chased it down, but as the pooches dont have opposable thumbs, we sort of agree, that when they have 'em cornered, I stick 'em.

Its Lon Humphrey made. It Works!

S90V coffin handle from Big Chris, 5160 from Ted Tautges and a 1095 Bowie from Marty (MR knives).

I'd suggest starting your search in the For Sale by Maker forum area. Here are a couple I've picked up over there:

Or maybe a full sized hunting knife would suit your necessary tasks better?

Want to be able to cut a hunk of meat off a deer or pig at camp, just for the man-factor, maybe even chop a chicken in half (insert joke here___)
I've seen a lot of different blade shapes, sizes, with and w/o guards, nothing has really caught my eye.

Soap, is there something we should know about you?

Anyway here are some production run models that definitely qualify as bowie knives. Hard to go wrong with any of them.

I have a couple of Bowie and Bowie-ish knives that I like to pack from time to time:
First is my largest: The Himalayan Import Cherokee Rose. 20"+ with 13" of it being blade. The blurry pic does it little justice. This is a formidable short sword that has earned its keep a couple of times:)

The next is my Himalayan Chit Bowie. This one is only 14" overall, but it's a bruiser.

Finally a semi-custom one made by Tirtha (a blade smith who works for...you guessed it, Himalayan Imports:D)
This one is 17" overall with a really substantial grip. Probably my favorite big knife that I own.

Great stuff. Is the Cherokee Rose a standard production model, or is it a custom or "on request only"? What's the thickness of it by the way?

Nice! How long is that blade? I stick to 8 in minimum for domestic hogs, but we have them controlled. You'd need more length to make sure you hit the vitals from any angle.

Got our bowie right here. You did say you wanted a wall hanger, did I get that right?

This is the most authentic bowie you will see in this thread, since it came from the town of Bowie, TX.

Check out the Down Under Knives Outback. It's the one from crocodile dundee and I think it looks the coolest out of any bowie i've seen.
