And Z-Finit is almost the same as LC200N, aka Cronidur 30.

this class of steel is supposed to be such a high performance and corrosion resistant steel that evidently Spyderco is looking at using it more in their Salt series. That says a lot, IMO.

Interesting. I am not familiar with the steel but I like the handle and I am a sucker for a flipper.

Good lord that is a sexy beast!!!

I think Eugene is about to take more of my money!!! ;)

I don't like that immense length of that blade as much as if it were only 4" or maybe even 3.75", but the knife itself looks amazing!

Z-FiNit is a really interesting steel: as close as I have seen to completely stain resistant, without losing too much in terms of edge retention and overall toughness when properly done. You can't even really acid wash the stuff. I saw someone try to make an acid washed blade out of it, and after more then 4 hours in the acid, the blade hadn't even shown any signs of changing color, much less any substantial oxidation.
Very good in terms of lateral strength and toughness as well, considering it's other properties. From what I understand, it's not the greatest in terms of edge retention, but it's supposed to be around the same as CPM-154 or something similar, and very easy to sharpen.

Hope this goes well for them, but I would be even more excited if they made a slightly smaller version, personally.

From what you're saying, this steel seems to be just about perfect. I can't wait till spyderco starts making sprints out of it:D

It's like the Wayfarer and the 0452CF mated :)
I'm very interested.

That's what I thought too. And I've completely gravitated toward longer, sleeker, narrower designed folders. This is by far the sweetest wayfarer I've seen. No funky lanyard hole either! Only wondering about price now, guessing it will be $500-600+

It's very good from everything I've heard, though very hard to heat treat unless you have experience with it. Not one of those steels that prioritizes edge retention over everything else, but it's other properties are astounding compared to anything else comparable. I might not like to have to touch up my edge more often than I do on my M390 and S90V blades, but man I wouldn't mind a nearly rust-proof blade either sometimes ;)

It's called the "Rainmaker", so technically not a Wayfarer, but yeah, another banger from Olamic.
Their Facebook page is worth following.

If the edge retention is as similar to CPM-154 as you say it is, then I would have no problem with it at all. I don't personally need anything that lasts longer, and the benefits of the increased corrosion resistance far outweigh the slight decrease in edge retention compared to other super stainlesses. This steel looks like H-1 with better-than-s30v-edge retention, which in my books is a HUGE WIN:thumbup:

What ANOTHER knife more expensive than it needs to be?
what is this sorcery?!..

It needs to be at least 5" before I'm interested.

How expensive does it "need to be", in your opinion?
Also, how much does this knife cost, since you clearly know.
