I'm looking for a fun cheap! manual flipper knife... any suggestions?

Buck Vantage comes in mind - great steel, deep carry clip, made in USA and a manual flipper.

Just my .02 Cent

I thinking CRKT Shenanigan looks like another good one... I might grab one of those too.

A random consideration - the Kershaw Ener-G. They're discontinued, but not too hard to find. It's pretty neat, the "pseunetic flipper" has a cam, so it doesn't take much travel to open the blade, and it hides in the spine when opened. I believe the same mechanism was used in the OD as well.

The best affordable manual flipper I've ever owned had to be the Kershaw Zing... a US-made RJ Martin design in Sandvik steel for around $40.:cool:

Can you remove the thumb stud on that? I hate thumb studs, and seek out options. The Zing looks good, but only if I can take that stud out.

I have to respond to this again... I did get a MY803 and it was a bad! At first it will seem like a good blade BUT the grind where the lock meets the blade is not a flush angle and produces blade play after a very short time... which also results in 100% lockup on a liner.

So since then I just orders a CKRT Ripple and a ZT0700. I knew better to buy that made in china crap so it's my fault... but I really hope the ZT is "the one"

I really think there is a lack of manual flippers in the 3oz-4oz range in the market.

the kershaw ener g is real cool, & unique. ag russell still has some, you should check them out.alot of fun to flip, too.

CRKT ripple comes to mind, manual, bearings, under $30. :)

Yep - bought one on closeout at Wallyworld for $23 bucks and flip it at my computer/watching TV all the time. Surprisingly well built knife for the price - after a year of flipping it still locks up tight with zero blade play in any direction.

There isn't just a lack of light flippers, there is a lack of flippers all together. I really hate that almost nobody makes manual flippers, and even fewer are ambidextrous. Luckily Kershaw is making quite a few nice ones this year.

CRKT M21-02G

The only CRKT I would buy in their current lineup. Take it apart and remove the AutoLAWKS and it's pretty awesome for $35.

As much as I love my Vantage (the handle ergos are incredible), the flipper is pretty bad. It really needs to be slightly larger or have some kind of gimping on it.

CRKT's bearing system IMO is amazing. The cheap ripple I bought a few years back was the first one I tried and amazingly smooth. This week I picked up the Fossil and sad to say, but it's much smoother than my 0801, and I didn't even think that was possible. Only downside is it is a beast of a knife. Got to wear a belt to keep my pants on with this one.
