Hey guys, I'm looking for a horizontal knife to wear on my belt. I've looked everywhere and no one seems to have what I want. I currently have a ka-bar that I wear, but it's a vertical knife, so it digs into my back when I walk or bump into something. Is there a knife that sits sideways on the belt? If so please tell me where I can find it. Thanks

ESEE 3 would be an option. 1095 is plenty durable and comes with a good sheath that can be set up for horizontal carry pretty easily.

For a smaller option, a great, lightweight carry would be any of the Brous Blades Silent Soldier fixed blades. They are horizontal carry with a nice clip and sit at a nice angle to remove from the sheath. Add in the D2, many finish options, and multiple blade styles; it may warrant a quick look. Best of luck in your search!

I'm looking at them right now on knifecenter.com, but I'm having trouble seeing how it can be turned horizontal. It looks like it's still vertical

Without turning to custom sheath options, a stock ESEE Izula 2 can be carried horizontally quite comfortably using a paracord wrap...

Good luck, OP! :)

I have a bark river Canadian special that I prefer to carry horizontally.
Custom kydex sheath plus g-clip or equivalent is the way to go in my opinion. Lots of excellent sheathmakers right here with great prices.

Take a look at the Dozier Personal. I have one in CPM 154 versus D2. Bob's horizontal kydex sheaths are a functional work of art. Many of the Dozier blades come with the horizontal sheath so you can buy the size that appeals to you.

It's all in the sheath...

If you aren't wanting a big knife the best rig I've found is a TOPS/Buck CSAR-T Liason with its Kydex sheath. The sheath is so minimal, yet good, that it makes a perfect horizontal package.

The knife is about 3.25" and very handy. The handle can be paracord wrapped if you want. I think the steel is 420 which makes it pretty much maintenance free. Takes a good edge too.

The addition of two black cable-ties through the grommets and around the sheath makes it a great horizontal carry that ends up being about the width of a 1.25-inch belt and sits well without being conspicuous at all.

If you want something Izula-size I'd get the original DPx HEST fixed blade by Rowen. They are making it again with a good sheath that can be set for horizontal.

If you want even larger, the Gryphon M-10, 4" blade, at the Cutlery Shoppe comes with great sheath options for horizontal.

I have a Camillus Barbarian that has a Kydex sheath and a Tek-Lok that can be worn horizontally. Quite a few Kydex sheaths are compatible with the Tek-Lok if one isn't included. I also have a couple of folders with nylon sheaths that can be worn horizontally on a belt; a Ka-Bar Mule sees the most trail time.

There's a custom knifemaker named Paul Letourneau that has a model or two that carry PERFECTLY like this - in your price range. You might want to look him up.

Good luck!

Several of the Dozier knives come with horizontal carry sheaths, but if you buy new they will be over your $200 price cap. A.G. Russell carries a good selection of them.

I am not sure what you are looking for. Any knife with a kydex sheath can be turned for horizontal carry. Just rotate the clips or forget the clips and just use paracord (I prefer paracord). If you are looking for a leather sheath in that position you may have to buy one separate (custom or general design). I would recommend buying the knife you want first, then either modifying the stock sheath or getting a custom sheath (kydex or leather). The recomendations i like so far are the esee 3, izula 2, and the bk14. All well below your price point. Plenty of money left for sheath modification or after market purchases. Good luck.

Dpx gear sells a kydex and also a boltaron sheath that is reconfigurable. Most polymer sheaths can be set up for any carry type
