So I'm looking around for a new watch as well as a new knife.

I'm looking in to the world of the tactical or "tacticool" as some people call them. I currently own a Luminox Evo Seal Series 2 and I find it quite useful for when I'm working inside of the club and at night.

The only real requirement I have is that it needs to be luminous in some way and my budget is $200 or under.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

have you had any problems with your Luminox? I read some reviews on thema couple weeks ago and it made me leary, I was about to pull the trigger on what I thought to be a nice one too.

I hope that maybe you can see something in that can steer you in the direction of your likes/needs.

Nope. Haven't had a single issue with my Luminox. I like it quite a lot, actually. Enough that I want to get a second tacticool watch to play around with.

Get a g-shock and spray paint the whole thing black, insta-tactical :p.

How about a traser watch? They have tritium tubes as well if that is important to you.

Traser is the manufacturer that supplies the watches to Luminox, as well as for their own brand. I think they make S&W and Uzi watches also. I have a Traser that's really held up well keeping time, but it's finally looking tired. It's my beater watch.

I usually wear my Black Monster now.

If you're looking for a poser, I can't help you. If you're looking for a watch that can stand things that you cannot, look at Gs. If you can stand a fall from a ten story building, sub-zero temps, deep water pressures.... My hat is off to ya. The G is a watch that can stand, basically, more than you can. If they find your body in the desert, rest comfortably in the knowledge that at least you'll be wearing a watch that displays the correct time. Look at the 5525 25th anniv edition. Cheap. Atomic. Solar. Comfortable. It has it all. Not many left however. You may have missed the boat.

Tough Atomic Solar G-Shock. I'm not lying dead in the desert, but the watch died on me. Nothing's perfect. Simpler has less to go wrong.

Thanks for the info on Traser Esav- it's good to know for future reference. I had read somewhere that Luminox had basically gained fame from the gas tubes but had heard little else.

Good to know.Do you have the Colormark series? I'm currently following my fellow forumites suggestions and looking into Citizen and Seiko.
have you seen the Nite brand watches? They look pretty cool. It's not easy finding a retailer in the states though.

The G-Shock GW-6900 is also a nice tactical looking and very tough watch.

If you're looking for something real different, you could take a look at watches from Vostok Europe. Here's my K3 Submarine, which is an automatic watch.

And if you want to keep a link to knives, both Wenger and Victorinox make tactical looking watches.

I am currently rotating between two watches. The Casio Ti Pathfinder 1200-Paw and the Seiko 5. The Seiko 5 is cool looking and I like the standard features but the Casio is the greatest all around watch. The thing I love the most is when you turn your wrist to look at it, the backlight comes on! It was great when I was working as a bouncer in a club.

I saw one on eBay.

Wow. Thanks for all of the great responses. I guess I would've already picked up a G-Shock at this point were I not under the impression that the things seem damn bulky. I'm warming up to them though.

Are there any other suggestions?

Have you seen the Magnum Stealth Force Analog Watch at Quartermaster? $99 They aslo have a Chronograph Watch for 149.99.

Steve

No, I haven't. I'll check it out.

Keep the suggestions coming! Thanks everyone!

Marathon watches are good enough for the government, they sell them at Countycomm. I'm happy with a Timex Expedition (for which I just ordered a new Maratac silicone band- also at Countycomm)

I would love one of the Marathon watches but the ones that really caught my eye were way out of my price range.
