I was wondering, are there any slipjoints like these A.G Russell Knives?

As in, a slipjoint with a similar blade design, a single blade and double bolsters?

The top knife looks like a whaler, or sunfish pattern. The bottom is a gunstock.

Do you dislike the fact that they lock? What is your size preference?

Those, and a Buck 110, are the only traditional knives I have, and the ones I've come across that I really like. I'm looking at getting a slipjoint, and would like something similar to those knives.

I looked through all the GEC and Queen knives for a slipjoint on the knivesshipfree site, but most of the ones that I liked had more than 1 blade.

The GEC Elephant Toenail with 1 blade and wooden scales is perfect, any idea on where can I find something like that for sale?

If it's no longer in current production, or just released, try the secondary auction sites.

You should connect an email account to your profile. Somebody may know where you can get one but if it is not a Bladeforums dealer they wouldn't be able to mention it in the thread.

Case made a bartender knife from the gunstock pattern if you are looking for something "gunstocky with a twist". And like wine, I suppose.

Worth quoting folks. Thanks Odog27.

The GEC #76 is a 3 1/2" gunstock pattern. The #22 is a small gunstock pattern at 2 5/8" closed.

Umm... you know, if you like those AG Russell knife patterns, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting one. Some of the fellas have bought them and posted of being very pleased with the fit and finish and the performance of the blade steel. The knives are designed in-house and AG's quality requirements for his subcontractors are very high.

Yep. I already have those 2, and really liked them, and would like a similar slipjoint. I'm also very pleased with the knives -- they are relatively complex (Dual bolsters, lockback, shield, pins, etc.), everything on them is satin or mirror finished, and as such, have incredible fit and finish -- something that, in my opinion, doesn't get conveyed enough in regards to these types of knives.

Ah, thanks! I thought I had already done that. But I've done it now. If anyone could recommend something through e-mail, please do!

The GEC #76 looks great, but, like most of the knives, it has 2 blades.

Collector Knives is a dealer here and there is another which I really like but I do not believe that they're a dealer on bladeforums but can be found on GEC's website list of dealers. Good luck in your quest!

That is great. Thank you.

But, please keep recommending!

I have one with blue camel covers. Nice knife. Pull is about a 7. Big knife, relative to other GEC/Northwoods offerings.

Thank you. I don't have any slipjoints at the moment, so I don't really know what the pull strength level means -- I have an off-brand "SAK" type of tool, and a couple of lockbacks, if that could provide some sort of reference?

Anyway, where do you guys buy your slipjoints and traditional knives? I know about collectorknives.net and knivesshipfree.com, but are there any other reliable providers of traditional knives? GEC's site provides a list of all the vendors who carry their knives, or most, but which ones are reliable?

Also, is collectorknives reliable? I noticed that they carry a selection of the "CFK" knives that people may recognize from ebay, and which people here do not seem to like very much.

Anyways, I ordered these;

"Northwoods Knives: Madison Barlow - Clip Point - Burnt Sienna Jig Bone"

http://www.knivesshipfree.com/great...d-un-x-ld-cotton-sampler-cocobolo-serialized/

"Great Eastern Cutlery: #74 - Northfield Un-X-LD - Cotton Sampler - Cocobolo"

Both are some of the most beautiful knives I've seen, so I really hope that the pictures don't lie -- I'm specifically wondering whether or not the handles of the Madison Barlow actually have that color in real life. Some of the Knivesshipfree pictures have obviously been passed through an image editing software filter for some reason.

Also, is the cotton sampler a sturdy knife?
