Both sites you named are run by people that are very active in this forum. They are both known to be good, reliable dealers. I can't speak much to the cotton sampler specifically, but in my limited experience GECs in general are very sturdy. That barlow you ordered is also made by GEC, and I have heard nothing but good things about Northwoods, though I don't have the honor of owning one yet.
